Do your research first. These are a wonderful rugged hip boot. The canvas has a very water resistant coating, but do note these are not waterproof. If you're going to be wading for long periods of time, the water will begin to weep inside the upper. I've gone salmon fishing for hours and been okay, a little damp but not too bad. They excel when you're trudging through the muck and mud though. They hold up well to brush and sticks. They don't chafe like the rubber hip boots do. The boot itself does rub in the back of the calf muscle if you've got a large calf, I wore a thick pair of sweatpants and that did the trick. The opening at the hip is wider than Hodgeman waders, so it accommodates a thicker thigh. The belt loop buckle is just that- a quick release buckle, which is far superior to the crappy snaps that end up ripping out of a set of rubber hip waders. Another plus over normal rubber waders, these don't dry rot if folded or rolled down. When you're hiking and not in need of the upper protection, the uppers roll out of the way. As with most rubber boots, there's no half sizes, but you do need to round up to the nearest half size- no need to increase anymore than that, these are spacious boots. Though they're not insulated, the fact that they are a neoprene lined boot does make them toasty. Not uncomfortable when in water or muck, but I wouldn't want to stand around in them on a hot day either. These also have a true EVA midsole and support, waaay more comfortable than your standard hip boot- my feet thanked me for the investment! All in all, I very highly recommend these boots, but I do have a pair of waterproof waders for standing in water for long durations.

I paid significantly more than they are now listed on Amazon for. I could have gotten two pairs of the waders I have been using for what these hip boots cost, but at the time I did not mind paying the price for what I thought was going to be quality and comfortable. I bought these with the intention of wearing these hip boots 2-4 times a year for early season hunts when the water is low and the temperatures were high. The rest of the time I would wear my full height waders. I have had them for a little over a year, (they are a couple months out of warranty) and have worn them 4 times. The first time I wore them my feet were bleeding afterward. I had never had any other shoes or boots ever give me a blister much less make me bleed before. That was with Timberland hiking type socks (not the thickest, but not the thinnest either). In case you are wondering, they are the same as all of my other shoes and rubber boots (size 11). The third time I wore them, the sole on one of them started to separate from the boot. At this point, they are out of warranty even though I have only wore them 4 times. I did call Muck and they apologized and said they would call back but never did. At this point, I am just going to try to glue the sole and wear super-thick socks and try to get some use out of them, but will not be buying these again.

Bought these to go deer hunting in a Vermont swamp. Had to cross 2 foot deep stream to get to it..these are heavy duty boots, went through briers and thorns without a tear..also nice and warm if the weather is cool. I like them ..
