I've been working for a chemical company as a process engineer for about three months now. I started wearing these day one--bought them specifically for this job. I have been very pleased. As happens on amazon.com, I spent rather a lot of time reading reviews of various products and though the first to review this particular boot, the same brand and model was reviewed under other listings.

Unlike other customers, I found the boots actually ran a bit large and they are very, very stiff and therefore any comfort anyone finds is likely going to rely on the socks. Aside from this, I believe the quality of construction is good and the boots appear to be sturdy and waterproof. Warmth might be another factor and probably also depends at least some extent on socks.

I got them mainly to avoid ankle bites when working in the garden, but they are obviously suitable for rain and mud and any condition where you might want to hose off the boots before touching them.

I've been working for a chemical company as a process engineer for about three months now. I started wearing these day one--bought them specifically for this job. I have been very pleased. I am in the office, but I do go out into the plant very often--sometimes most of the day. We make and use some pretty corrosive and serious chemicals, but my boots are holding up very well. The only wear I see so far is the tread on the bottoms where I walk my butt off. So, yes, I do a substantial amount of walking most days, and my feet virtually never hurt. I don't have a problem with support or heaviness or anything. They are very comfortable, and extremely waterproof--which I love because I really don't want some of these chemicals near my skin! It may be that some of the other users of this boot have higher arches or something, but I love them. They are holding up better for me than it seems for others, so I can't complain at all about any of that. My biggest complaint is that they are hot, but you will have that with any waterproof boot. Plus, I can fold down the neoprene upper when I'm not in deep water to let some air in. I'm overall about as happy with these as you could be with a shoe.

2.0 out of 5 stars Seem good, but fail every time with regular use, March 27, 2011

I use my muck boots twice a day, every day for morning and evening farm chores and walking/playing with my dog.

Pros:
They are super comfortable for me with a great amount of toe-wiggle room when I buy my exact size. They're easy to get on and off, and I really like the pink hounds-tooth pattern. They keep my feet warm and dry in all conditions, and they're far superior in all ways to rubber rain boots/wellies.

Cons:
I'm finding a new pair doesn't even last a year for me because the interior heel padding (just below ankle height on the back) wears down to the hard plastic backing, and then the boots are too uncomfortable to use, even though the rest of the boot is still in excellent shape. No doubt this means I'm getting too much heel-slippage, though I haven't had any blister issues at all even when I used the boots regularly for long dog walks in the woods.

The other big con is they don't really have enough arch support for extended use. Though they're comfy for me, and I like wearing them, when I used them regularly for long dog walks (even with a high-end sports footbed insert), I ended up with a strained tendon in the arch of one foot that took months to heal. So, they're not ideal for anything beyond chores.

UPDATE:
I purchased the Muck Chore Boot hoping the more serious frame would last longer. Nope. They were much heavier, and a few months later are already unwearable for the exact same reason: the interior heel has worn away, is chewing up my socks, and makes the boots too uncomfortable to use. I'm done with Muck Boots. I just purchased a pair of Twisted X leather chore boots [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE THESE!, December 25, 2011

I got these a year ago. I love them. They are sturdy, easy to wash, and have held up really well. I use them for farm chores in the cold weather. I have gone through several other pair of boots during the time I have had these. They do run wide and big, but since I use these only in cold weather, this is good. (I have thinner ones for summer). It lets me wear fat socks with them. I highly recommend these and have bought them as gifts. The recipients were also enthusiastic about them.
