5.0 out of 5 stars The Single Best Mustang Book Available
As a mustang owner, I have a shelf full of mediocre mustang publications - they either tend to be "fluffy" picture books, or broad based overviews, covering a large period, but offering very little detail.

3.0 out of 5 stars More of a picture book
This book has a lot of photos of beautiful Mustangs. If you are looking for a book to see some restored Mustangs, than this is the book for you. However, I thought it would be more of a "how to" book. The title is somewhat deceiving, it's not really a guide to restoring your car.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Single Best Mustang Book Available, April 13, 2003
This review is from: Original Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1966: The Restorer's Guide (Hardcover)
As a mustang owner, I have a shelf full of mediocre mustang publications - they either tend to be "fluffy" picture books, or broad based overviews, covering a large period, but offering very little detail.

Original Mustang 1964.5-1966 takes the most ideal approach to the subject. Focusing exclusively on the first 2.5 model years, Mr. Date is able to focus his efforts. The photos are varied and of high quality, and tend to be of unrestored california cars - offering unprecedented insight into originality. This is a refreshing approach as mustang originality can be a difficult thing to pin down.

There is extensive info on VIN decoding, color options, etc., much of which is admittedly widely available, but if I were able to have only one mustang book, this would be the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Restoration Guide, January 16, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Original Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1966: The Restorer's Guide (Hardcover)
It takes only a few minutes leafing through Mr. Date's book to realize the wealth of information contained within. It is a help to the first timer as well as to the experienced Mustang restorer. The book contains many fantastic photo examples of the various models of the Early Mustangs ('64 1/2 - '66). It is a welcome addition to my collection of Early Mustang books and Restoration Guides.

Its about time that these "Original" series book included Ford Mustangs. What a gem of a book! Its a whole book of colour photos throughout showing details on the 1964 1/2-65-66 model Mustangs and even Shelby Mustangs too. This is an amazing reference book for owners and enthusiasts of Ford Mustangs.

If you are thinking about restoring your mustang to its original factory condition this is the first book you should buy. This book maintains the very high standards that this publisher are known for. Finally the long awaited Mustang book is here. And it was worth the wait.

I also recommend these books:
1)Ford Mustang:1964-1/2 to 1973:originality guide for restorers and scale builders".By Pat Covert.A Musclecar Tech book.
2)Mustang 64 1/2-68.By Tom Cocoran.(Muscle car color history series).

5.0 out of 5 stars This is THE Book to have as your Reference Guide!!, March 1, 2006
This review is from: Original Mustang 1964 1/2 - 1966: The Restorer's Guide (Hardcover)
I've been a fan of the Mustang since I owned my first '65 Fastback in late 1968. Have been interested in restoring them since the mid '90's and have been saving articles and buying books on how to restore them for years. The problem is, no one book can cover everything............, but this book has come the closest to hitting on more aspects of the origianlity of the early '65's through '66 Mustangs and even some info. on the Shelby's. Great photographs for reference!! A must have for every Mustang enthusiast!!
