I almost bought a cheaper nylon rope hammock. Those might be fine, but I wanted 100% cotton because my previous hammocks were all cotton and were very comfortable and durable.

This is an excellent quality hammock and is big enough for two (or three or four).

It fits my old hammock stand (the very common 3-piece steel pipe version) perfectly. I did need another person to help stretch it while I hooked the other end to the pole.

Don't be alarmed if you "bottom out" when you first use it. The cotton ropes will stretch and the knots will tighten with use. Just keep tightening the attachment chains until the hammock is broken in.

The hammock is beautiful but the hardware broke and we fell to the ground the first time we used it.You will nee to go to the hardware store to buy heavy duty hardware to safely use this hammock.

My husband and the whole family enjoy it. Well made, easy mount and dismount.

I have two Pawleys Island cotton cord Hammocks. The rope in the oldest one has begun to fail. I did a repair, but there will surely be more repairs and so I ordered a new one.

These have been great hammocks. Are they still? Here is what is obviously different:

The new Pawley Presidential does not have the built in two-way hook I use to tighten the chains when hanging the hammock on its stand.

Where it is easy to compare the heaviness of the metal, the new is a narrower diameter.

The wood finish looks much sloppier on my new hammock.

I can't help wondering if there have been changes to wood and cord quality.

Feel good about supporting an American company with a quality product! These are the best hammocks... Highly recommended! You get what you pay for.

This is the perfect family hammock---everyone can fit into it! It is soooo comfortable! The hardware is heavy and it has first class oak stretchers. This will be my second one....I purchased our first one while visiting Pawleys Island in SC years ago - Excellent craftmanship and will last a lifetime if you take it in at night and not let it stay out in the weather.

This was a Father's Day present for my husband and it may be the "best" present ever. He is absolutely thrilled. The construction is excellent and seems very sturdy. We secured it between 2 rairoad ties my husband cemented 30" deep into the ground since we didn't have 2 trees close enough together or in a location that we preferred. The extra width is great since we can both easily lay in it at the same time. It's very comfortable and with the pillow I ordered too, it's a great place to hang out, read, relax or have a nap. It was a big hit at our annual 4th of July party, especially with the kids who mainly used it as a swing. We live in Colorado so I will bring it inside for the winter. Hope it doesn't wear out soon, but if it does I will definitely order this one again.

Well made, good looking, and comfortable. The price caused me to hesitate, but it is well worth it. My husband stretches out in it daily, and it really is large enough for two people.

My previous Pawley's Island hammock lasted over 20 years. I always store it in the winter but it is out all spring, summer, and fall. If this one is anything like the last one, you cannot go wrong. This one seems bigger than my last one and has plenty room for two. I currently have another hammock that is not cotton and do not feel it is near as comfortable or near the quality of the Pawley's Island hammock. Hopefully in 20 years i will need another one.
