5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Investment
I bought the Original Peg Drops by Ardsley because I practice violin every day at
least twice a day. I wore out the pegs on my student violin with frequent change
of strings that wore out, so I felt the peg drops would be a good investment for
the care of my new orchesta violin.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not work
I bought a cheap student violin to practice fixing violins. The pegs were creaky so I threw the peg drops into the cart while buying Dominant strings and a Baggs pickup. After soaking into the pegs for a week, the product did not make them turn easier or tune better. In fact, the pegs were even creakier and the "A" peg got stuck. Back to the soap and chalk method for...

What I like the best about the drops is while my new violin is "settling" there isn't
a wood on wood grinding noise while tuning, and the drops aren't like a glue.

I hope this is helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helps hold tune, March 16, 2008

I am teaching myself to play violin. When I bought my new outfit, the pegs were super loose! I had to really push them hard to stay in place, and then do all my tuning with the fine tuners. After a few drops of this stuff, the pegs are much more usable. I think I used it 2 or 3 times (whenever the pegs would get loose again), and now the pegs seem to have set in well.

I ordered a bottle of this stuff because my violin's pegs wouldn't stay in place, so I couldn't tune it. Once applied, the pegs stayed wherever I twisted them to without being sticky. You might say this liquid is much too expensive, but its effect cannot be achieved by common household materials. Besides, a single bottle will last years.

Just spend the couple of dollars. Think of it this way: without being properly tuned, you cannot continue playing your instrument.

I have a cheaper violin and when I say cheap I mean less than two hundred dollars so pegs that slip are a common and very annoying problem for me. My understanding is all pegs slip but mine just slip a little more often than anybody else. These are really simple to use and these drops help maintain my strings from coming out of tune so often and it works almost like a glue (but its not a glue). In time the pegs will eventually slip of course and the drops will wear out but the price of these drop are worth it to keep from having to tune so often. I am new to the violin so these drops help out a lot especially since I am self teaching. Overall I would say these peg drops are a must have and I always plan to have some and makes my violin learning more simple.

I am new to the violin but I found these drops to work very well when tuning the wooden pegs on it.Didnt think I would need it when I bought my violin but it is a good thing I did.Its annoying to have your pegs slip out of place and having to tune constanly.

After reading that new violins often lose their tune until they are broken in, I purchased peg drops along with a new violin for our daughter. They worked like a charm. The violin holds it's tune and it is much easier for her to practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap fix!, January 18, 2009
This review is from: The Original Peg Drops by Ardsley
I bought these drops for my youngest who is learning how to play violin. Her pegs were so loose, but these drops have helped them stay in place and make it easier to keep her violin in tune.

A few drops will do ya, and we don't have to re-apply very often. Well worth the money spent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't play without this stuff, November 17, 2009

If you have a violin you already know you can play without this stuff. Violins don't have gears to tune the strings like guitars do. You need this stuff to keep the peg stuck in place.
