I received this device, which was to come with two batteries. The batteries were so old and corroded that I had to be careful touching them (they were covered in that white powder corrosion) to throw them away. I put in two, brand new batteries. The device didn't work. Not poor quality, not scratchy sound, just flat out didn't work. I should have spent a little more I guess. Don't waste your money.

As a journalist, I have to tape a lot of phone interviews for later transcription, and the Record-A-Call is just what I need. It's easy to load, gives good fidelity and the tapes can be swapped out quickly and easily. Its only drawback is that it doesn't tell you when a tape ends and recording stops; you have to occasionally check the tape to make sure you're still recording. But otherwise, it's great!

Problems with my new Record-A-Call,

I need to make telephone recordings (all legal) for my work. The trial recordings seemed to work well - good sound quality, easy to use. But over the course of a 20-minute conversation the tape sped up and slowed down, making the recording useless. I am trying to reach the person to redo the recording with my old, time-tested equipment, which is a donut on the receiver connected to a mini-cassett recorder. The sound quality is not too good, but it produces a usable recording.
otherwise, it looks good! |
