5.0 out of 5 stars Limited use, but excellent for what it does April 11, 2011

We were at the point with our son that every parent gets to with Legoes, we had several boxes of completely mixed legoes throughout the house. It seemed like our choices were to put them all in a huge container and curse them to never be used again, or to sort out every individual set of shapes so my son could follow directions and build things. We started the sorting, but it was going to take forever. We have thousands of Legoes and to sort them by individual shape was simply not feasible for us.

It was at this point I found the Box4Blox sorter box. I was skeptical and when I bought it. It seemed like a classic set-up where you waste your money for something that doesn't help you. But after using it to go through most of our Legoes, I have been very impressed. It does in fact do a quick and easy job of sorting large quantities of Legoes into 4 groups/sets based on shape and size. The long skinny Legoes fall all the way to the bottom, but they are obvious and easy to pick out with all the little pieces on the bottom. All the other dozens of Lego shapes are grouped effectively.

For us this was a great solution, because it saved us from putting all the Legoes in on giant container. But here is the limitation, we now have four large containers filled with Legoes which require quite a bit of digging through to find a specific piece. Four is better than one, but it is not the perfection of having every shape type in an individual container. But that is the only limitation we found with this. And it is possible we may sort out these four groups in to more groups in the future. The key is that get from total Lego chaos to a semblance of Lego order.

This is a great tool for getting huge amounts of Legoes into more manageable quantities.

4.0 out of 5 stars When its time to sort Legos, this saves a lot of time August 25, 2010

As advertised, this product saves a lot of time when you decide to organize Legos. Regarding the durability, I am not as satisfied. In the first day using the Box4Blox, I discovered the bottom green tray was partially cracked on one corner. The box could have become damaged in shipment, but I am not sure. Regardless, I make sure that I am careful when using the box. It seems that one hard fall could easily crack the material. Despite the durability shortcoming, Box4Blox is effective at separating the small legos from the larger ones. I would like to see one more layer with openings smaller than the red layer so that the smallest of the lego pieces, like the studs, 1x1 plates, small pegs, etc, would be further separated. I would recommend this product to a friend.

2.0 out of 5 stars A few unforseen cons March 24, 2011
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Limited use for us. My 8 year old son is very much into collecting and building the lego kits. What inevitably happens is some of the creations fall apart when they get played with. If for whatever reason the creation is not going to be rebuilt, to sort these bits with the sorter, the whole creation has to then be taken apart completely or the sorter cannot do its job properly. The sheer task of doing this quickly becomes overwhelming and is time consuming. This is not a fault of the product, but it is something I hadnt realized would be an issue before purchase, so thought it worth sharing. Also, my sons collection is massive. The sorter can only handle a certain (small) number of pieces at a time or it soon becomes clogged. Time consuming, again. We did eventually get the job done, but of course the sorter can only store a small part of a big collection, so we bought some 5 drawer plastic storage towers to hold the collection. Now that the collection is organized (sorted in the drawers according to their size), we find its just as easy to toss stray pieces in the drawers ourselves rather than have the sorter do it. I had imagined it would be the perfect solution for collecting and sorting the stray pieces that always end up all over the house, but the sorter has no handle and the trays do not clip together, so its not very portable. Its also much more fragile than I expected, being made of fairly flimsy plastic. Bottom line, it was a bit of a help to get us on the way to being organized, but now it sits unused.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!
i had my doubts but this box really works. It easily separates the sizes allowing the smaller ones to fall to the bottom tray.

3.0 out of 5 stars It works, but not the best...
I agree with other reviews that the corners are very sharp, too sharp for a kid's toy. It does sort the legos, but it's not perfect. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars cover is warped & returning it
Total disappointment & was so pumped to get this cool thing. The lid is warped up on 2 opposite corners. So it rocks on top. Lovely!

2.0 out of 5 stars So so
This product was so so. It sorted, but really only into 2 categories, with many pieces still in the wrong layers. Not helpful at all. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as big as you think
I don't know what we were expecting, but, this is not really a storage solution. The item is just not big enough for a large lego collection, but, is still very useful as a sorter. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
Nice product but smaller than I thought it would be. If your child has alot of lego like my son then consider two.
