Here's the scoop on this great soundtrack!!!,
By "twekie" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Alias [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
The music on this CD is the original music produced by Michael Giacchino that can be heard on the ALIAS TV show. It is not the other songs featured on the show that are by other artists. So, in essence, it's the score for the show, not the soundtrack (which is a good thing). The show itself being a cross of science fiction and a 007 style movie, the music follows suit. It's an excellent cross of Don Davis's (Matrix) techno style and David Arnold's (The World is Not Enough, Tomorrown Never Dies, Die Anohter Day) spy music styling. If you want samples, watch the show (ABC at 9), or go to Michael Giacchino's web site at www.michaelgiacchino.com Some of the samples featured on that site appear in long form on the CD, which has 25 tracks on it, all from the first season. The track list is: 1. Main Title (Alias Theme, TV cut) 2. Dissolved 3. Red Hair Is Better 4. Spanish Heist 5. Double Life 6. Tunisia 7. In the Garden 8. Looking For A Man 9. Anna Shows Up 10. Home Movies 11. On To Paris 12. Page 47 13. The Prophecy 14. Badenweiler 15. Arvin At The Poles 16. Sleeping Beauty 17. Bow'd Up 18. It's Not The CIA 19. Oh My God!!!! 20. The Tooth Doctor 21. It Was Anna 22. Wet Suits 23. Ball Buster 24. The End? 25. Bristow & Bristow 26. SD-6 Dance Party Lenth: 1 hour, 5 minutes, 8 seconds This CD has been much awaited by Alias fans. Definately a must buy for fans of Alias or for movie score collectors!

The "Alias" soundtrack is as hot as the show itself! Sleek tracks filled with rumbling bass, techno sound effects, and a driving beat make this one of the best albums around. While it doesn't contain any of the popular music Alias is known for, the score alone is worth the price. Energetic, exciting music just as great as the show!

Perfect soundtrack to a nearly perfect TV show,

If Henry Mancini and Ferry Corsten collaborated on a TV soundtrack for a spy drama set in the 21st Century, the results couldn't be any better than Michael Giacchino's work on this CD. Giacchino can compose for an orchestra like the best of them, but he's also savvy enough to add a contemporary edge with multiple nods to electronica. Synth pads and drum loops are phased through various low-pass and comb filters on several selections here, resulting in a delicious, chewy-sounding percussive effect. Other reviewers have commented on this being a great exercise CD; I agree and would also add that this is a great CD for driving or browsing through glossy photo magazines.
My favorite pieces on the CD are "SD-6 Dance Party," "Red Hair is Better," and "Spanish Heist." I've no idea who the guitarist is on the latter two cuts, but he's quite good! I recommend this first and foremost to anyone who fears that soundtracks are a dead medium; Giacchino's a challenging composer and takes some real risks. Alias fans will snatch this up (although it doesn't include any soundbites from the TV series), as will anyone willing to play both techno and retro lounge on their CD players. Completists may not be happy with this CD as none of the popular music heard in the show is reproduced here, nor is the torch song Jennifer Garner sang in one episode. But that's what future installments of Alias soundtrack CDs are for!

This is what makes the show so awesome!,

When I first started watching this amazing show, the first thing I noticed was how incredible the soundtrack was. Each episode had a unique theme to it, and it's not that boring drama music you hear in movies and some tv shows. This is upbeat, electronic-like music that everyone will enjoy! There is that really haunting song "in the garden" which is from when Sydney Bristow was locked in a Romanian Psych Asylum! It's great! "Red Hair Is Better" and "Badenweiler" are among the best tracks, besides the theme song! The tracks seem to be taken from the first season, which is great, since the score was incredible. This CD is not some boring instrumental album....this is like a dance CD with the occasional ballad. If you like Alias, you NEED to get this CD! It is so rare for a tv show to have such good background music!

The Best soundtrack EVER from a TV series!,
This review is from: Alias [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I think the title says it all, but it's true. I bought this CD knowing and loving the show and realizing just what the music adds to all of the highly enjoyable adrenaline rush scenes. This CD does not disappoint. I now exercise/kick box to it and if your pumped up by just watching the series, you'll really enjoy playing this CD in your car while driving....just try not to get a speeding ticket because the impulse to floor it will definately be there!!

First of all, I am an avid Alias Fan. I'd watch every episode and try to find the songs played during it- eventually realizing that these are not for sale- they are the score. Michael Giacchino is a genius and I'm so grateful to finally own the score to season 1. If you like the sound of the show, the mix of techno and classical, you'll have fun with this album- it's great to drive to (well, not for the other drivers) and awesome to work out to. Easily worth the 14 bucks.
Now, where's Season 2's score????

I've always liked the music on the show, I just got the CD and I love it! If you like dance music you will enjoy this soundtrack, my only disappointment is that they couldn't put all of the songs from the show on the compilation, but it's good enough!

I am in love with the whole world that is Alias, the people, the danger, the deciet, the love.. all these aspects are brought together and combined by the music of the show. This score is a reminder of all the intense emotions that we felt while watching the actual episodes, some tracks you cant even help but shake your yeah in a "yeah-yeah" motion. I totally think this is a great cd to have. even if you're not an Alias fan, for those with ochestral tastes this could be for you too. I love the energy these songs give you.. a definite Sydney Bristow power punch! ENJOY!

Over Price,
This review is from: Alias [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
This CD is highly over priced. I enjoy the music, but some of the songs are 1 to 2 minutes long. It is not worth 15.00.
