5.0 out of 5 stars Almost as addictive as the show
The soundtrack promo came up in last week's (Season 4) episode, and I could not stop grinning. I'm neurochemically hooked on the show, and I've always wanted the closing credits music on CD. The expanded "24" theme gives you the feel of the whole show - hope (strings/synth), tension (percussion), duty (military snare/high horns), and sacrifice (piano/low horns)...

3.0 out of 5 stars I wish...
Sean Callery wrote incredibly beautiful pieces of music to underline the Tony/Michelle relationship. These are not on the cd. Although there are wonderful pieces of music(my personal favourite is the truly moving "The bomb detonates") I wish it were more complete.

The soundtrack promo came up in last week's (Season 4) episode, and I could not stop grinning. I'm neurochemically hooked on the show, and I've always wanted the closing credits music on CD. The expanded "24" theme gives you the feel of the whole show - hope (strings/synth), tension (percussion), duty (military snare/high horns), and sacrifice (piano/low horns).

Sean Callery's approach has a lot in common with Graeme Revell's score for "The Negotiator" and Mark Snow's TV scores ("The X-Files", "Millennium"). The choice of tracks couldn't be better. There are no musical reminders of lesser moments in the show like "Jack on Smack" or "Yep, Kim's in The Cougar Trap".

"Up and Down Stairs" has enough guitar and groove to fill a dance floor. "Kim and Terry's Escape from The Safe House" sounds like a guest shot from Juno Reactor, with a frantic drum n' bass rhythm and Middle Eastern chanting. "Alexis" is just plain sexy, and a good fit for fans of electro-goth band Collide.

Tracks like "'Copter Chase over L.A." and "Coliseum Finale" are all business, with quasi-military music riding a tick-tock beat.
"Season One Finale/Terry's Death" conveys the show as effectively as the main theme. There's a whole bunch of drama, then it sounds like things will be OK...then, the sickening twist.

You've gotta watch the show, and you've gotta have the music underneath it. Like any good TV music, Callery's soundtrack merits casual listening when the TV's off.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, January 4, 2005
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
i'd been hoping and praying and griping in forums ever since season 1 for a 24 tv soundtrack to be released, so imagine my surprise when i stumbled across a discussion about the 24 tv soundtrack the other day. i'm an OST and 24 junkie, so i'm pretty biased in giving this album 5 stars, but trust me, it's a very top-notch production [didn't callery win an award for best tv score?]. anyways, my only disappointment with the soundtrack is that i was hoping they'd include the music that was playing [during season 3] when chase and the strike team are Metal-Gear-Solid-ing into the apt where saunders is supposedly hiding out in, in order to take him down before jack must kill chappelle... but all the tracks present are so good it pretty much makes up for that =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Tribute to a great Show, January 28, 2005
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
The CD arrived just the otherday and I'm glad to have it. For those who like techno music, this ones for you. It reminds me of the days back in the '80's when Jan Hammer(Miami Vice fame) was the hot item. The "24" theme song is a strong rendition of what this show is all about. Yet, the others listed are of the shows plot renditions, it is strong, lively and to the point. You can close you eyes and combine the works of Pink Floyd, Tomita, Jan Hammer, and other great synthesiser musicians and find out that Sean Callery is a promising upcoming star. Some of the works are short, somewhat sad since they do have a lot of promise. But Callery brings to life the sole of this fast paced show with clear and crisp fast moving music. Yet he does know how to work the feelings of Jack Bauer when his interludes in the scenes involving Jack's wife and daughter, a real soft moving pieces that show the softer side of our beloved hero. All in all its pretty good music to just listen and get the juices flowing. Lets get some of the previous season out also. Hope they consider a follow-up or let Callery do some freelancing.

5.0 out of 5 stars This soundtrack is the bomb!, December 11, 2004

I am a longtime viewer of "24", have all the seasons on DVDs, and I love this soundtrack!! Sean Callery does fully receive the credit for being one of the greatest composers. You might remember Sean Callery did the music from "Le Femme Nikita" (although I have never seen this show, I still love his music). Some of my favorite tracks from this soundtrack include the "24 theme", "Up and down stairs", "Jack in the Limo", "The Bomb Detonates", "Alexis", and many more!! I definitely recommend this soundtrack to any fans of the show "24." Finally, Callery if you are listening, make a volume two, please!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack to a Great Show, February 13, 2006
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
Sean Callery's score to the TV show "24" fits perfectly. Some reviewers have complained of the pieces here that are moody, but I find the CD strikes a nice balance between the intense parts and the moody ones. Another nice touch was to wait until Season Three before releasing this music. There seems to be a rush on most TV soundtracks to get some product out there as soon as possible, and it normally ends up inferior. Great TV show, great soundtrack!

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll be listening to "24" for more than 24, May 29, 2006

It is a rarity for a television show to be scored well, let alone have a hugely original one (what was different scorewise between "Family Matters" and "Full House"?). Sure, most people probably aren't paying attention to the score while watching, say, "According to Jim," but some do, at least in part. As a student filmmaker, I can't HELP but pay attention to such things, well, 24/7.

What makes Sean Callery's score so amazing is that it functions just like a score for film would. It easily evokes a large range of emotions and moods from the viewer all while maintaining a uniform style and using definitive themes. I particularly liked that for such an energetic show, there could still be somber, subtle piano tracks that were even remeniscent of the work of Thomas Newman (but were still completely original).

If you are a huge fan of the show itself like I am and you also enjoy instrumental film soundtracks, or if you happen to like kinetic dance music (the tracks "Up and Down Stairs" and "Coliseum Finale" will do you well), this CD is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Composition by Callery, December 11, 2004
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
Anyone who has watched the three seasons of 24 knows that it is composed of fantastic pieces of music, and this release signifies that. Pretty much every track on the soundtrack is enjoyable, with standouts as follows:

24 Theme - of course. How could you not like it? =p
Up and Down Stairs
Jack on the Move
Jack's Revenge at the Docks
Jack in the Limo
The Bomb Detonates - Saddest piece on here. A true standout.
Coliseum Finale - Probably my favorite track on this album. Finale to Season 2 where Jack struggles with his heart condition and the terrorists.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for anyone who has their sense of hearing, December 14, 2004
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
Any fan of 24 can tell you that it is the greatest television show ever produced, this is partly due to the incredible score by Sean Callery. The disc includes a number of tracks, each one surprisingly different, used to enhance a number of feelings and images. Listening to some of the tracks really brings me back to some great scenes in the show. Callery also writes about how he went about scoring the different seasons of 24 in the CD booklet--pretty interesting read. If you like 24 (how could anyone not) then you must own this soundtrack, period.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY!!, December 17, 2004
This review is from: 24 [Original Television Soundtrack] (Audio CD)
I've been waiting for this soudtrack since the first season and when I realized it was coming out I freaked.I picked this up on the day it was released and had to buy another copy because the first one got wore out. If only it had the music at the end of episode 3 of season 3 where they try to catch Kyle in the mall and Tony gets shot. Besides this, it's freakin' GREAT!
