5.0 out of 5 stars Great for soccer games and picnics
This probably the best umbrella stand I've seen for use in the grass or dirt.

Pros:
1. The tines are very easy to anchor into even very hard turf by just stepping on the stand.
2. Great for soccer games, picnics, baseball games
3. Can be used with any umbrella.

Cons:
1. It's made of metal and a little heavy.(but it's...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works in grass - terrible in sand!
As the title indicates, I this product works fine for the grass; I tried it in the sand and it didn't work AT ALL. Also, apparently I have a different umbrella than this wants to work with, the hole to put the umbrella in is very large so my pole can go it, but the screw that comes with the stand is not long enough to secure my umbrella pole. I have to spend my entire...

This probably the best umbrella stand I've seen for use in the grass or dirt.

Pros:
1. The tines are very easy to anchor into even very hard turf by just stepping on the stand.
2. Great for soccer games, picnics, baseball games
3. Can be used with any umbrella.

Cons:
1. It's made of metal and a little heavy.(but it's really sturdy)
2. As another reviewer noted, it's not great for soft sand. You may have to dig a little hole first and then anchor it.
3. I wish there was a cover for the anchor points for when you carry it around. I just put a bag on the end so I don't poke anyone.

Overall it's a great umbrella stand that my family uses every weekend at the kids' games and practices.

Highly recommended!

Great for use at the park or in the yard, or at soccer games. The pegs are too short to really use in soft sand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, December 13, 2011

I had read some reviews saying that the screws weren't long enough to hold skinner poles. I made a trip to the hardware store first thing and bought screws that were a bit longer. Has worked with every beach umbrella that has used it. I have loaned it to family and friends for their vacations.

1.0 out of 5 stars DANGER! DO NOT BUY, September 28, 2011

This review is from: The Original Umbrella Stand - Use Anywhere, Sand or Grass, Easy to Use, Yellow with Thumbscrews (Misc.)
I bought this thinking it would simplify setting up my umbrella. Since I have 2 small children I need all the help I could get. I even saw a video demonstration to see how it worked. The first and last time I used it the umbrella stand blew away with very little wind and since it was stuck with the umbrella stick it hit my 9 months old in the head! I was in a school trip and every parent had to run off to grab their children and the umbrella since it was rolling in the sand very fast! Thanks good nobody else got hurt and my son ended up with a big bump on his head. I tried returning this item but since I have to pay for the shipping and it's so heavy it's nor even worth it. So no, I would not recomend this to anyone!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Stand but needs inserts for smalller diameter poles, August 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Original Umbrella Stand - Use Anywhere, Sand or Grass, Easy to Use, Yellow with Thumbscrews (Misc.)
I just got the stand and tested it out in my backyard. It was easy to put in the ground, but would work better if there were a crosspiece on the base, either with or without prongs. It's hard to get those two spikes in perfectly vertically, so it leans to one side unless you are really careful about how you push it in the ground. I had to reset mine 4 times before I got the thing in straight. Also, I got it to use with my Sportbrella, but the diameter of the pole on my Sportbrella is so small, it was swimming around in the bracket and leaned way over. The thumbscrew was too short to hold the skinny pole in place, and even if it was longer, the screw still probably wouldn't work. I worked around the issue by using a piece of scrap PVC and some thin pieces of wood to wedge inside the bracket. Then I put the umbrella pole inside the PVC pipe. It seems to work, but would be nice if the stand came with a couple of inserts designed to accomodate smaller diameter poles, as the thumbscrew just doesn't cut it. Also, the angled bracket could stand to be deeper. It's not even half the depth of the vertical bracket. It seems that the umbrella should sit down further in that angled bracket so it goes as deep as the vertical one.

4.0 out of 5 stars works great as an antenna stand, August 31, 2010

I'm a ham and bought this to use as a base for a field antenna. The stand works great in grass and did not require any guying. The upright pipe fits a PVC mast perfectly and supported an antenna at a total height of about 14 feet. I have no complaints about the stand. You might consider advertising that it also works for antennas! Hams love this kind of stuff and are constantly in need of innovative solutions for emergency communication. Given the above it should work just fine as a regular umbrella stand too :)
