4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction to a vast subject.
This is a very short book on such a huge theme...

The book presents the reasons for both wars as an strategic decision by the rulers of Germany. It makes a very good case, of the connection between the reasons for both wars.

Due to its size it is not very detailed, but still is very interesting. The author has included excerpts of historical documents that are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
It was easy to read - maybe too easy. I was expecting a more detailed and better organised book. I read history out of curiosity, but my curiosity about the origins of the two World Wars remains unsatisified.

Due to its size it is not very detailed, but still is very interesting. The author has included excerpts of historical documents that are related to the reasoning developed in the book.

It is a good book to start understanding why these two wars happened.

I ordered this for a class I thought I was going to take. Even though it said it was used, it came in great condition and seemed new.

This book discusses the varying views of the origins of World War I and World War II. I emphasize the word "origins." This book does not give an analysis of the Wars. I borrowed it from the library to find out the reasons World War I started. I was quited satisfied with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars McDonough's Genius, May 4, 2010

This review is from: The Origins of the First and Second World Wars (Cambridge Perspectives in History) (Paperback)
Frank McDonough's analysis is a brilliant study of the origins of two of the most destructive wars in human history. Of which origins are of complex nature. However, Mcdonough does a great job in his analysis of the books origins. The book is not overdone or longer than need to be, and gets straight to the point.

Following the end of each section, McDonough gives a quick overview of the main themes of the section

One of the greatest war study's!
