Oh, and there's an imitation brand that looks very much like this (down to the size and color of the box) but tastes horrible!

I was happy when I saw I could buy them for my Mongolian Night party to add some authenticity and nostalgia!

This is a very interesting type of snack. I can't really think of any "American" counterpart that most people would be familiar with. I was introduced to it by a nephew of mine who loves snacks from Asian markets. This is a Korean chocolate type of snack.

It's a sponge sandwich with a cream filling all covered in a layer of chocolate. When you bite into it, it's the texture that you enjoy first, your teeth break into the thin chocolate skin then sinks into the sponge and cream. Then you masticate and mix it all up in your mouth. The taste is great too, it's a creamy, chocolately, sponge cakey taste. Most important, it's not too sweet, like many creamy chocolately snacks.

It's hard to review tastes to people because it's so subjective. All I can say is that it manages to mix up those 3 ingredients (cream, chocolate, sponge) up very well and you should give it a try if you like these kind of things. Oh, and there's an imitation brand that looks very much like this (down to the size and color of the box) but tastes horrible! Make sure it's Orion brand.

Orion's Choco Pies beat Lotte's Choco Pies. I decided to do a taste tests since I've never had them and bought both versions. I ended up eating all of Orion's Choco Pies first and took my time to finish up Lotte. SO GOOD! You can usually get the 12 pack from your local Asian Grocery Store. I found them for $2. NO LIE.

I bought these to serve at a Mongolian Night Open House for my book, A Month in Mongolia. These are chocolate coated cookies with a marshmallow filling, very much like American Moon Pies, only smaller. They were great snacks for long days of work and travel in the Mongolian countryside. They seemed to stay fresh longer in the shops in Mongolia, and always tasted good. In addition to having them for our work team, I would get packs of them and toss them to students as prizes for asking and answering questions in training. I was happy when I saw I could buy them for my Mongolian Night party to add some authenticity and nostalgia!

I really like these little tasty treats. Maybe too much, but they are a nice snack, or dessert for me and my little ones.

This is a decent treat, but they are quite small, and don't taste all that different from packing peanuts covered in that fake chocolate glaze used on mass-produced donuts. If you have a good reason to buy these - by all means, do so! If not, well, I'd suggest you go for something that may have flavor.

Choco Pie... The Korean man's comfort food. I like to pack 2 or 3 when I go golfing and eat them.
