5.0 out of 5 stars Orion EZ Finder Reflex Sight., October 28, 2008

I purchased this Reflex site to go with my 9X50 Right angle finder scope on my 10" DOB.

I was looking for a Red Dot finder to use along side my 9X50 spotting scope for a while. Most of the ones I saw, were made of plastic and were not very good. Then I found this one. First off, it's made of Aluminum and is very strong and stable. It weighs almost nothing so you can put it on your scope with out worrying about weight.

It's super easy to align with hex head screws and once aligned it stays that way even if you remove it. You can choose from 4 different reticle patterns. A nice feature, is the 4 reticle patterns on the back above the selector glow with the light so you can tell what you have selected and see the pattern in the dark if you want to change without looking through the viewer. It has a variable brightness control and the battery is easy to change. The battery is a CR2032 button battery that will last a good long time. I turn mine on to spot my object, then click it off and the battery has been going over a year.

It's small ( Not huge like a Telrad ) and it works fantastic. The only thing for me was I felt that the shipping was high for no bigger and no more than it weighs. But over all this is a very well made product that every telescope owner should have.

Great eye relief, solid & secure positioning screws make this a wonderful convenient finder for amateur telescopes. Feather-lite, yet stable construction reduce the need for counterweight and hence tube flexure associated with large finders. Glad I bought it, worth every penny!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pro's and Cons, February 11, 2012

Pros:
Nice rigid aluminum frame, compact, solid dovetail mounting, variety of reticules, variable brightness, glass viewport. Red dot point is nice and fine.

Cons:
"Wheel" for adjusting brightness is so hard to turn I think I might break it off its mount when adjusting. Certainly likely to move the alignment position. -1 star. Until I use it a lot I won't know if this is going to be fatal because I hope to set it on one brightness level and leave it there. Kind if nit-picky but the reticule circles are uneven brightness so that the circle is fat on one side and thin on the other. Same affect on the cross.

Overall:
Good product for the price. It is what it is and works well for what it is. I won't complain about dew or lack of magnification, that is inherent in this type of finder scope.
