Orion Otter Compact Binoculars, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Orion Otter 10x26 Waterproof Compact Binoculars (Electronics)
These little binoculars are PERFECT for my application -- casual nature viewing and ocean-going ship watching. I would have given the transaction 5 stars, but for Orion's user-hostile return policy. The binoculars came with a very minor defect ... for which I would have exchanged them had Orion not required that I pay for the return shipping.

Check for optical defects; needs steady hands, December 15, 2007
This review is from: Orion Otter 10x26 Waterproof Compact Binoculars (Electronics)
The one Orion sent me had no QA sticker on it (unlike the 8x26 I had
ordered that came in the same package), so I looked very carefully and
sure enough there a defect in the right optical path. Called Orion's
tollfree number; they were very helpful, courteous, and said that FedEx
would email me a label. It never showed up in my inbox (I know Orion has
my correct email address as they have since sent me other emails). So I
called back and. again very courteously, they promised to snailmail me a
FedEx free shipping label to return it. I assume that will show and the
rest will be hassle-free....
I would have given this 4-5 stars (the way I will the 8x26 if it performs
the way I expect it to in the field) but they shouldn't have shipped a
non-QA'd binoc and they should have had a better understanding of
what FedEx does and doesn't do for them.
BTW, the 10x26 requires REALLY steady hands, arms, etc., so if someone
in your family doesn't have those, then this is not for them.
