Beautiful Entry Level Automatic Chrono, July 30, 2011
This review is from: Oris Men's 67475877264RS TT3 Black Chronograph Dial Watch (Watch)
OK, let's get to it:
1- Bought from Jomashop. Watch came with scratch in the bezel which told me it was a display item. NOT COOL. I understand for the price I got, there had to be something going on. I just would have appreciated beeing told straight up what the deal was.
Now onto the watch:
Pros:
1- Elegant design, contrast of colors, Matte and Polished Titanium... perfect blend of sport and elegance. It will do just as good in a Tennis Court as in a Business meeting.
2- Featherweight... titanium is so light sometimes I forget I got 2K in my wrist
3- Adjustability... the bracelet is fool-proof and fits just about any size fist, even mine which is kinda small. Don't hace to bother cutting anything.
4- Oris Red Rotor... once you flip it back and see the mechanism at work you really appreciate the build quality of the movement and the watch itself... a little piece of art.
5- Price... at this price range I doubt you could get anything better... friends have Chopard's, Grand Carrera's, Mido's, Panerai's, etc., and they can't believe I paid under 2K for such a watch
6- Size: 44.5mm case is perfect, not too big, not too small. If you are a fan of over-sized watches then this may not be for you, but for the rest of us (majority) it hits the spot.
Cons
1- Scratch magnet... I know Titanium is not the best scratch resistan material out there, but this one, specially with the matte finish, is a particular pain. Bottom clasp gets scratched with just light contact with the dinner or conference table. Matte finish is very hard and costly to restore.
2- No 1/10th second chrono feature. I am aware only Tag Grand Carrera RS 36 has this feature in mechanical watches, but common, my Tissot T-Race has this feature at a fraction of the price.
3- Hard to set in the date with the crown... you have to pull-out the crown between the set clock and fixed position... it's tricky to get it right, so if you plan to use this as an alternative watch, the 48 hour power reserve feature will be of no help, thus setting the date will be a constant task.
Overall great watch, and at this price it's a steal.
