5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly pleased
I had bought some cheaper ice pop molds and it drove me crazy trying to remove the popsicle - warm water, banging them on the counter, having the stick come out without the pop. My two year old would lose interest by the time I got the thing out, half melted and dripping. I thought I'd give these a try, even though I was bit skeptical about the claims of how easy they...

I had bought some cheaper ice pop molds and it drove me crazy trying to remove the popsicle - warm water, banging them on the counter, having the stick come out without the pop. My two year old would lose interest by the time I got the thing out, half melted and dripping. I thought I'd give these a try, even though I was bit skeptical about the claims of how easy they were to remove. But low and behold, I grabbed that little tab and the silicon peeled right off, leaving a perfectly frozen, molded ice pop - as pretty as one I'd buy at the store. Great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy removal, takes a little longer to freeze, June 4, 2009

We recently purchased a juicer and I wanted to try some popsicles. I purchased a store brand (traditional plastic) popsicle mold and this.

Compared to the traditional plastic molds, these are great for easy removal of the popsicle. No running water over and slowly twisting out the popsicle while little kids are whining. :)

They are dishwasher safe too which is always a huge plus in my house.

The one downside is that the popsicles take a little longer to freeze. The popsicles in the plastic froze about an hour ahead of these. Not a big deal if you made them in the evening and froze overnight when no one is eating them anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! Popsicles made easy!!, June 4, 2009
This review is from: Orka 4-Ice Pops (Kitchen)
I have been trying to find a "natural" popsicle for months. Something without sugar added and all the other unnatural sounding things they add to popsicles (why do they have to do that anyway?). I couldnt find them anywhere. Even in the boxes claiming all natural I found strange ingredients. So I decided to make my own, and am I glad I did. I bought 2 packages of the Orka 4-Ice pops and blended some frozen fruit with a little water, popped them in the freezer for a few hours and vioala! Finally an all natural popsicle. My son loves them, he doesnt know they are anything different!

The nice thing about these popsicle makers is that they are very easy to serve. The outer shell just peels off leaving a very cute swirly popsicle. I did not have to run it under water at all. The rounded handle/drip catcher is better than ones ive seen because it actually is like a tiny bowl rather than a flat piece. Of course any toddler is probably going to manage to spill it still, but Im not sure there is any design that could prevent that! These clean up easy too.

I also have to compliment Amazon for their faster than promised shipping. I almost did not buy them because it says 3-6 weeks for delivery. I got them in a week and was very pleasantly suprised!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but smaller than it looks, June 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
In preparation for the summer months I bought three different silicone ice pop sets: the Orka molds, Kinderville Little Bites Silicone Ice Pop Molds (Set of 4), and Lekue Silicone Ice Pop Mold, Set of 2. Of the three the Orka is the easiest to use. The silicone is very thin and easily peels off the ice pop, and the plastic handle is looped (like a big yarn needle) to keep it from pulling out while you unmold the pop. The one negative? These molds are VERY small. The other two brands hold about 3 1/2 ounces each, but these hold less than 2 ounces. With the stand they take up about a 4"x4" space in the freezer and I like that they stay upright while freezing. It's also nice that they are thin enough to turn inside out, which makes washing them easy. Since one set will only use a little less than one cup of liquid (and what ice pop recipe yields only one cup??), I would either cut back a recipe to fit or buy more than one set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Design flaw - leaky drip cup/handle, May 20, 2010

Handle and drip cup are separate pieces. The drip cup catches drips, but the liquid just ends up leaking through down onto handle. I really wanted to like them because the silicone molds seemed great, but they are a total mess for even an adult to use. I am suprised that one else has commented on this considering that a paper towel must be held around the handle to keep liquid from escaping every where. This design flaw could be corrected by making the cup and handle all one piece. I considered gluing them together but did want to deal with making sure I used material safe/nontoxic around food.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, but needs some clarification, September 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Orka A47221 Ice Pop Molds, White Base (Kitchen)
The good:

- they're silicon popsicle molds

- hold about a double-shot-glass' worth of liquid (perfect for snacking, or for smaller stomachs)

- they are individual popsicles held in a stand, so you don't have to defrost the whole batch just to eat one

The unexpected/not so good:

- the molds peel off in a way that causes the mold to be inverted, which makes it easy to clean, but does require that you turn them back right side out.

- there isn't anything to indicate the maximum fill level on the interior of the mold.

- the drip catcher is hard to drink out of if you do wind up with drips (if you're an adult.)

Overall, I like them, but they're running second to the Tovolo molds I got at the same time.

First off, to anyone who might be put off due to the poor reviews which gripe about the size, take a moment to think to yourself... how much do you REALLY need? These aren't tiny, but they're not super-sized either. In my opinion, they're just the right size for that perfect summer treat. As Americans we consume waaaay too much these days as it is, and these molds not only give you just enough to satisfy a sweet-tooth but allow you to create fun and healthy ice-cold treats for your family!

The molds release easily - they just peel right off and, voila! The shape you get is very cute, and the bases are fantastic - no dripping all over little (or big) hands. So far we've filled them with fruit juice (white grape juice with fresh berries inside is a fave and looks really cool) as well as pudding and yogurt. The options are only limited by your own imagination, and I've already got 2 more sets on order so that we can have plenty on hand when guests are over! Yum!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pop mold for kids or dieters!, July 1, 2009
This review is from: Orka 4-Ice Pops (Kitchen)
I am a newcomer to the icepop world, and after discovering some neat recipes I decided that I needed to try them - thusly, I needed a mold. After a bit of digging around Amazon I found this baby, and I'm very glad I paid the extra $3 over the other popular molds. I am a leisurely pop-eater (and also trying to diet), so I need a mold that protects against drips, isn't too large, and doesn't yield an army of pops for me to binge on. This mold fits the bill perfectly! The built-in drip guard on the handles is much wider than the finished pop, which I've found is necessary. This mold is just big enough to take a small smoothie and make four delicous pops. The stand sits nicely in my freezer and I love that the pops can all be handled completely individually. The silicone mold peels/pops off, which is so handy, and it is easily rinseable. You can even turn it inside-out to clean it!

The only downside is the long freezing time... but that may or may not be my freezer rather than the mold, so I didn't take off any stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size for toddlers, July 7, 2010

These are perfect size for small kids, no more than 2oz per pop. Don't fill all the way up to the top because it will be hard to get the part inside the drip cup out. For those who found it hard to unmold, just peel it (turn the mold inside out). I bought the white set first and it was perfect, no dripping. Then I bought a brown set just for a different color. However, the handle and drip cup are separate pieces for the brown set (not for the white set), so they would drip a little bit if you don't eat fast enough. Fortunately, they're small enough that usually my kids can finish before they drip.

These popsicle molds are very cute, and seem sturdy with nice handles that catch drips, but the swirly part of it makes it difficult to remove the popsicle from the mold, and so far every time, the popsicle has broken in half. They don't hold very much either, pretty small.
