This review is from: Orka A68903 Silicone Square Steam Cooker, Blue (Kitchen)
I HAVE BOUGHT THE ORKA ROUND GOURMET 27 OZ PANS AND THE LARGE OVAL PANS FROM A'ZON..... BUT LIKE THE SQUARE ONE THE BEST AS U CAN FIT MORE IN IT THAN THE ROUND ONE. I COOK EVERYTHING FROM HOT DOGS TO BACON TO PASTA TO BROCCOLI. U NAME IT I HAVE PROBABLY COOKED IT IN MY SQUARE ORKA PAN. EVEN MACARONI SAUCE. I GOT MY BLACK ONES ON THE Q".
A COUPLE OF HIN"TS.... IF STAINING BOTHERS U THEN WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE IT IN BLACK AS SILCONE DOES STAIN. DO NOT USE ANY KIND OF ABRASIVE CLEANER OR TEFLON TYPE SPONGE TO CLEAN AS IT AFFECTS THE SILICONE. IF UR RECIPE CALLS FOR GREASE THE PAN THEN DO SO WITH OIL OR BUTTER BUT NO PAM LIKE SPRAS. OF COURSE, NO SHARP KNIVES. TO GET A GOOD SEAL MAKE SURE THE PAN HANDLES ARE EAST/WEST AND THE LID HANDLE IS NORTH/SOUTH..... SEEMS LIKE THE LID GETS "SUCKED IN" WHEN PUT THIS WAY AND FOOD COOKS BETTER AND QUICKER. THE RECIPE BOOKLET I GOT WAS NOT MUCH HELP, SO I USED MY IMAGINATION AND ADJUSTED MY COOKING TIMES AND VOILA.... EVERY THING COMES OUT DELISH. I USE MINE IN A TOASTER OVEN AS I DO NOT OWN A MICROWAVE AND CANT REMEMBER HOW TO WORK MY STOVE OVEN (LOL)_ TRY IT.... U WILL LOVE IT, I AM SURE.

I own three different sizes (all blue) Orka silicone steamers: 12oz oval, 33oz square, and 27oz round.
My favorite is the square while we can do a veggie dinner for two in it. The oval steamer is good for one person only or for a portion of a meal for two. The round steamer is the least used in our household due to its flimsiness. The square steamer is the sturdiest. The square and the round steamers are the same oz amount even they are labeled differently. All the steamers work as advertised, they seal well and keep the moisture in while food is being microwaved. Some people state that their steamers do not seal. Perhaps they overload the steamers and do not line up the top correctly with the bottom. It happened to me once. Not anymore, I do overload the steamers but make sure the lid will line up with the bottom after the veggies melt down from their frozen stage. I do use these steamers for 8 months now and I did not notice any discoloration. I steam carrots a lot. So I am not sure what would discolor them. I did notice an after smell if I didn't wash these steamers within a couple of hours or so. The worst smell was from the potatoes. So I make sure I wash them with Palmolive before I go to bed. They still do smell a little, but hey, it is a silicone which is plastic. Plastic retains smells, I knew this will happen. The booklets do include only a limited timing suggestions. I found timing guides all over the internet and posted them here on the cooking forum. A GLAD Microwave Cooking Chart can be used for these steamers as well.

We ordered one of these a few months ago and love it for cooking in the microwave! It steams fresh vegetables great and does a superb job of heating up leftovers. So I ordered 4 more square steamers to give as Christmas gifts: one red, one green and two blue (which is the color we have). Imagine my surprise when I get the order and the green and red steamers are exactly like the one we have except for color. But the two new blue ones say 33 oz (the others say 42 oz) and the recipe booklet is not the same. We measured the new 33 oz. and old 42 oz steamers and they both hold 42 oz. so that isn't a big deal. However I really like the recipe booklet for the old one. It contains a guide to microwave steam cooking which is very useful. The new one only has 5 recipes and no guide but contains 7 different languages! I'm going to try to get them to send me 2 of the older recipe booklets and then I can rate this a 5 star product!
