4.0 out of 5 stars It works!
The description and picture here are somewhat difficult to get a handle on how this thing works so I will try to explain. It is this little triangle shaped thing, about 2.5 inches tall by 3 inches wide. You open the door and put a whole clove of garlic (even 2 smaller ones fit), skin and all, inside. You then close and apply pressure to the door as you turn that black...

3.0 out of 5 stars Idea Needs Work
Works okay, but really "mushes" the garlic, rather than minces it. Sometimes that's okay. I think the idea needs work - like maybe larger grating holes inside? Seems like I have to use more garlic as it doesn't seem to use the entire clove. Also, it's not the easiest thing to use - I find I have to press the "door" against the counter as I turn the dial in order to...

You then close and apply pressure to the door as you turn that black knob at the top. Once done, you push that button in the middle of the black knob and the bottom pops out. It has a stem attached which has a rubber paddle on it that rubs against the grater as you turn. The mashed garlic is all on that paddle. The skin stays up top on the grater thing. It was simple to use and simple to clean. My only apprehension is about durability as it is made of plastic (other than the grater, of course) and I hope it holds up well.

I've used it 3 times now and I am quite pleased.

Seems like I have to use more garlic as it doesn't seem to use the entire clove. Also, it's not the easiest thing to use - I find I have to press the "door" against the counter as I turn the dial in order to get it to go all the way. A new design that holds the door down (like an extended handle that you squeeze?) while you turn would be better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Orka Garlic peeler and grater., October 8, 2009

I found the product to be totally useless, and a waste of money. I ended up throwing it away in frustration after 3 attempts to grate a garlic clove were unsuccessful.
