I love kitchen gadgets, particularly versatile ones with clean design elements. I stumbled on the Orka products while Christmas shopping and after ordering the silicone tagine as a gift, decided to order the 27-ounce round steamer for myself. I have now had the steamer for more than six months and couldn't be more pleased.

I'll put raw broccoli and cauliflower into the steamer, pop it into the microwave, and minutes later it produces still crunchy and flavorful veggies. There's no microwave 'wilt' or that blanched color from boiling. I couldn't believe it at first. Another thing I like to do is put a raw fish fillet in the steamer with some marinade and lemon. When the steamer comes out of the microwave the fish is beautiful, succulent, and there's no grill to clean. Speaking of cleaning, most stuff comes right off of the silicone surface and the unit dries quite quickly. For a doctoral student like me, with little to no time to cook, the steamer means the return of decent meals.

My only complaint? It'd be nice if Orka could provide more information on cook times on its website. The fancy recipes are great but I'd just like to know the cook times for different vegetables and meats/fish without having to 'guesstimate'.

Contains food in microwave...great for everything from meat to cooking vegs.
No negatives. I use plate on bottom to support the flexable container.
