I purchased this item because it was advertised as "Double Pie Weights". It said the product weight was 2 pounds, as opposed to other similar products which weighed one pound. In fact, these are not double the weight or amount. They are double only because there are two beads attached, like a molecule. I see no advantage, and they were twice the price. Don't be mislead like I was. Still barely enough to fill one crust, and the weight is only 13 ounces.

Exactly the same problem as the other reviewer who warned not to be misled by this product description (which I unfortunately didn't read before purchasing). This package of pie weights might be serviceable for a small pie or maybe for a few tartlet shells.... but they are not in any way sufficient for an 11" pie as claimed.

As a pastry chef, my experience using these weights is that almost the entire volume of the crust should be filled (depending on your dough) if you don't want it to slump in the pan and have short sides. You need a heck of a lot more weights than this pack has.

I give it 1 star because of the deceptive description and charging double what others are asking, further leading the customer to think they are getting a double package. It weighs the same as the singles offered by others.

I have been using pinto beans for years to blind bake pie crust. Finally broke down and bought the real thing. Work great but don't forget to put down non-stick foil. A friend didn't and they baked into the crust. You need two packages to fill a deep dish crust.
