A funky classic from 70's Brazil. Ignore the previous reviewer, who seems to prefer his bossa nova to other forms of Brazilian music. This one is more in the vein of Jorge Ben's classic period, a great mix of the fender organ and some heavy soul samba grooves. Sunny, happy dance music that bubbles and grooves, a touch of Bossa is also in the mix, especially on the last track. Every song is fantastic, if anything the whole album is just too short. Jao Donato helped with the music/organ parts. Another wonderful reissue from Kindred Spirits. Be sure to check out there African reissue series of classic recordings from Mali too.

I have his 60's albums, but remained unfamiliar with his output from the 70's on. There are a few really great tracks here, but overall I MUCH prefer his work from the 60's - very, very catchy and enjoyable Samba/Bossa records. This has more of a Samba/Funk approach, which isn't bad, but not nearly as appealing or as memorable to me. If anything, it just makes me appreciate his earlier records even more then I had before. Depending on your own tastes I personally wouldn't start with this one.
