5.0 out of 5 stars Title Says It All
Love this book. I am from New Orleans and while looking over the recipes, I noticed that a lot of them were familliar. Some were, what I thought, my mother's home cooking. I know of at least fifteen people that have purchased this book after reading through mine. Great book and would recommend to anyone who enjoys "New Orleans Home Cooking."

Even one star is a stretch. Get Cooking Up a Storm: Recipes Lost and Found from the Times Picayune of New Orleans for more and better recipes. For example, 11 page index vs. 2 in New Orleans Home Cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Orleans Home Cooking, November 8, 2009
This review is from: New Orleans Home Cooking (Hardcover)
This is a fabulous collection of classic recipes from New Orleans. I really enjoyed the stories that went along with each recipe. Made the stuffed mirlitons. Not only did I impress my friends, but I impressed myself! They were delicious.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best of cooking in new orleans, September 5, 2008
This review is from: New Orleans Home Cooking (Hardcover)
Dale Curry's fabulous book now in its second printing has proven its deserved appeal and the five stars that the majority of reviewers award it, and it is easy to understand the reasons. The renowned former food editor of the New Orleans Times-Picayune has put together a cookbook that any serious cook will want to own--all the recipes have been tested and all are tasty--and the illustrations are inviting in themselves. Any discerning cook knows that the merit of a cookbook rests on the variety, clarity, and
flavor of the recipes within the book, not the number of index pages outside the book. New Orleans
Home Cooking is as rich as the culinary offerings of New Orleans are and enables the reader to experience the Big Easy in an easy way.

I am a 6th Generation New Orleanian. I grew up eating wonderful home cooked New Orleans food, prepared by family and friends. I now live in Texas, and if I want the old familiar favorites, I need to cook them myself! This book does a great job of helping to fill the void left by the recipes my family lost in Katrina. I am thrilled to have these at my finger tips. Recipes are authentic and easy to follow.
