I've been keeping my ornaments in my old college trunk for years, wrapped up in paper, and they've done really well. This year, I decided to upgrade to something a little neater/ more meant for the job, so I decided to try this ornament safe. The good thing was that shipping was super fast, which is why I gave it 2 stars. The universally bad things: the plastic box was hard to open and it did not quite fit together properly (gap on the side). The bad things for me: most of my ornaments are glass balls, medium sized to large (average 2-3 inch across from side to side) and this item only fit 15 of them total, which does absolutely nothing for me as I would need like 5 of these boxes just to fit the balls. The only way this item would come even close to fitting the quantity of ornaments that it claims to fit is if they were very narrow, maybe one inch across. Some other problems: When I tried to close the box, the thick foam was so tight that I was afraid the balls would snap. Also, there is nothing protecting the ornaments on their sides so you have to be very careful to keep them spaced far enough apart so that they don't touch. I would say do not buy this item if you are trying to store glass balls, unless maybe they are miniature.

I now have 6 of these, the most recent 3 from Amazon with a slightly different, & better, closing mechanism than the first ones. Now that they're reduced, I'm getting more for next year's additional ornament purchases! Taking down the tree wasn't the chore it has been for 30 years, because I didn't have to wrap each ornament (we have hundreds and hundreds) separately. No fun at all, and consequently some years the tree didn't come down till February or even March. Embarrassing. These containers will make the tree easier and more fun to put up because I'll see at a glance all of them and can decide which one to hang where. It's true that really big and wide ornaments don't fit, but 90% of my ornaments did. I gave these 4 stars because the closing mechanism could still be improved, and probably will be in the next generation of the product.

Taking down the tree has always been time consuming and frustrating, and now I have found a product that saves time and stores my ornaments in a protective environment. The Ornament Safe safely stores various types of my ornaments. I simply place them on the hanger, alternating softer ones around more fragile ones, taller ones with shorter ones, to gain best use of the case. Then the time saving part is taking the ornaments to the tree on easy to hold hangers! Although I own the original design, the newest design they sell on QVC is even better. I would recommend this to anyone who owns a tree.
