5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely underrated, November 1, 2009

Tim "Timmy C" (Baltimore, MD, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ornament of an Imposter (MP3 Download)
This record's been out since January 2008 and I am the only one to post a review?

Take complex electronica in the style of Telefon Tel Aviv or Trentemøller and add in vocals which are either snowy, northern-sounding women (Jem, Kate Havnevik) or obscure, undecipherable Radiohead-ish indie acts (Blueneck, The Deer Tracks). This is the result.

Some songs remind me of Karma-era Delerium, others of Faithless' dance tracks. Highly recommended if you like any of the aforementioned artists, and I found that a lot of Imogen Heap fans like this as well. This guy is a genius; I wish this album got more recognition than one review almost two years after its release.

5.0 out of 5 stars And now, ANOTHER criminally-late rave review!, September 17, 2011
This review is from: Ornament of An Imposter (Audio CD)
This album is my on-ramp for Rizzo, given to me by a friend who thought he heard what attracts me to electronic music in it. He was so right - the grooves are perfect, driving headphone music, more trance than dance, in a poppy/serious vein. Kate Havnevik and Jem are used exceptionally well here. Man has his way with a beat, tastefully laid under the appropriate song. This just sounds SOOOO good under headphones! For lack of a better description, it sounds just the way I want a good set of electronic pop to sound: hotter than downtempo, more for listening than dancing to (although I assume tracks would be just fine on the floor).

Favorite tracks: "Ecouter" with Jem, and Havnevick's "All Is Forgiven"...and they're just surrounded by these other lush tracks! Snap this one up!
