I've just finished a remarkable little book of poetry. I'll explain in a moment why it's remarkable but don't think for a moment that, because it's little, you won't get your money's worth. Here's the reason you will: As I read through "Orphan Dreams" on my Kindle I found myself, time and again, bookmarking poems. Of the fifty or so poems in the book, I had bookmarked fourteen that truly touched my heart. I'm getting my money's worth because each of these poems speaks directly to me, and each one will hang as a portrait in my mind, to be read over and over.
What is remarkable about this book (which is the reason these poems touch my heart), is the level of Courage her lines are forged by. A Cancer survivor, she survives daily with the challenges and pain of Fibromyalgia; then there's Asthma, numerous Allergies, Sleep Apnea; add to these the isolation of Attention Deficit disorder. Now, if all that's not enough to make a lesser person want to cash it in ... to those litanies of debilitating challenges add the grinding pain of Arthritis, Bursitis and Tendonitis. But I failed to mention one other thing Susan McIntyre has ... it is Humor. And, that makes all the difference! There would be no Humor if there wasn't Hope. It's there aplenty in her poetry.

So, buy "Orphan Dreams". Bookmark your own personal selections. You might start with "The Best Flower in the Garden". It's one of my personal favorites. But, have no doubts about it. This remarkable book will remain in your mind and heart long after you reach the bottom of the last page.

I found this book EASY-READING!!! For ages 15-107, it's releavant to anyone facing issues of the heart, needing validation that they are not alone going through conditions, challenges physical and emotional. It's one poem per page which my overwhelmed mind finds relaxing. Written that way on purpose so that one poem at a time can be absorbed and reflected on. The hardcover has cream colored paper, Zenning you. Great gift for those who have "everything". Like a greeting card, it says it for you. It's not too big, heavy, or overwhelming. Just right. Some of the poem titles are: The best flower in the garden, Forgiveness, Great for those who need to "overcome." Leaf, Waiting (patience,) Sunrise, Memory Games, The Artist and the Scientist. I think it should be required reading in High School English class.

Susan's book of poetry is touching and at times magical. She often uses simple and direct language in clever and subtly alluring ways. She makes lovely observations on life and its problems and often reveals a wise insight into human nature. Her book will delight and inspire you. Susan has had to cope with many medical problems but she shows a ready wit and a lust for life that marks her out as unstoppable. 'Orphan Dreams' is a special book of poetry written by a very special lady and I can recommend it without reserve.
