This works real well for me. I spray this product on peripheral areas in my bathroom (tile floor), where I know bed bugs are entering my apartment from out of the walls and for days afterwards (without me applying anymore spray), I find dead bed bugs which had obviously entered from out of the walls and walked through the area where I had previously sprayed. I have observed this happening repeatedly over a period of six months or so and it is very clear to me that this product does work. I just would not count on it to remain effective for more than 7 days or so, even though the can says one application lasts for two weeks. NOTE: You have to lay it on heavy when you spray it. That means that you want to see it foam white as you spray it onto a surface. If you don't see that white foam forming as you spray it on, you are probably laying down too thin a coating and it will not work as well. ......... Also note that in my opinion this spray is very toxic and you would be wise to wear at least a paper dust mask when applying the spray. I would also be very careful about what you choose to spray it on. You don't want to subject yourself to toxic poison where you sleep or eat etc without taking proper precautions against subjecting your own body to poison. .... On my bed and couch etc I use natural product sprays such as one that is made from eucalyptus oil and while that is not a long lasting effect it does kill anything it is sprayed on and yet it is not toxic to people and smells very pleasant. There is also a product called EcoRaider that contains Geraniol and Cedar Oil which are natural and safe elements for people. I use that product also. .... I would also recommend putting down Diatomaceus Earth wherever you can and leaving it there for as long as you know you have bed bugs. It is non toxic and it is effective. Just don't use anything but a shop type (wet vac), vacuum cleaner to vacuum it up or the very fine dust will destroy your vacuum cleaner.

I used the Ortho Bed bug & flea killer in the purple spray can a few weeks ago, $6.97 for a one pound can at Home Depot. Enjoyed three blissful bug-free days and nights before they returned. BUT, that was before I accidentally discovered and eradicated the nest, which was in the curtain valance of all places. Whoever heard of curtain bugs? I hadn't even sprayed up there, concentrating on my mattress and headboard. It was a hot, sunny day, and I was trying to tug the curtains closed to block out the light. I pulled too hard and the whole apparatus fell down. Muttering, I started to climb on the edge of my bed to rehang the curtains, looked down, and yuck, there they were: about the size of my hand, a seething colony of eggs, nymphs and bugs. Also, those horrible brown fecal stains tracked across the valance. And when I jumped off the bed to drag the curtains to the bathroom, about twenty crackly off-white husks - the bugs their shed skin five times in their lifespan- wafted to the floor. Ick. (I'm sharing this to help others track down their bedbug Ground Zero. I had scrutinized my mattress and box spring three times - flashlight, magnifying glasses- and found nothing at all.) washed the curtains in hot water, and used another can of Ortho. That was two nights ago, and so far, so good. But I also bought a 4 lb bag of Diatomaceous Earth ($8.97) and there's so much of that white powder drifting around my bedroom, it looks like Elsa's kingdom in Frozen. I also ordered some Cimexa by mail, but it hasn't come yet. I'm hoping that the three-pronged approach - Ortho, DE and Cimexa - will prevail and prevent any future resurgence. Twice last month, I lifted my head off the pillow, and a bedbug fell out of my hair! I was so disgusted I started using head lice shampoo, even though I've never had lice, simply because it's the only pesticide you can safely use in that manner. Good luck to all of you.

I sprayed the bed... frame, mattress, box spring, woodwork, & carpet. Slept like a baby for the first time in 3 days. No bites, and nothing crawling. This stuff works. The label says it protects for 2 weeks. I plan to spray again in a week.

One thing I've learned about bed bug killers is that because a product works for me doesn't mean it won't work for you. I used "Hot Shot" products, and they were useless. I bad-mouthed them to my friends, not knowing that bed bugs can and will become immune to one or another set of chemicals over time. So I no longer bad-mouth Hot Shot products.

My test for effectiveness is to find a bed bug and spray it directly. Those in my house ignore Hot Shot products--but when I spray them with Ortho they stop moving within 1-2 seconds.
Ortho works. For me.

I've done days of research and can urge bed bug sufferers to buy mattress and box spring encasements. They are the only products that always get high marks for their effectiveness from product reviewers. I bought the Hospitology Sleep Defense System products for $49 through Amazon and can say that the combination of products is working.

Good luck.
Death to bed bugs!

The Ortho Home Defense Dual-Action Bed Bug Killer is not just for bed bugs but also kills fleas, ticks, ants, spiders, stink bugs, boxelder bugs, dust mites, crickets, earwigs, millipedes, moths, lady beetles, and silverfish. This is like any other pesticide, it is not to be used on food surfaces or bed linens. You can spray it on and around the bed frames, floors, carpeting, and baseboards, etc.

The can is an aerosol can with a top that you just turn to spray. There is no lid that has to be removed and kept up with. I like the top and the spraying action works good.

Provides protection up to 2 weeks.
