Good buy,
This review is from: Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention (Hardcover)
This is a great buy. Not very practical for day-to-day use. I prefer Hoppenfeld and Pocket Guide to Musculoskeletal Diagnosis for a practical physical exam. And the Pocket Guide to MSK Dx is also good for history taking. But Dutton is a good buy for a reference book and has some good info in it.

Great Reference book,
This review is from: Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention (Hardcover)
Of the many textbook I have had to purchase and read I found the information in this one to be very accessible. The information is categorized in a straightforward manner which helps when cross referencing.

Dutton handbook,

This review is from: Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, & Intervention Pocket Handbook (Paperback)
The handbook to Dutton is a GREAT investment. It provides all the great information and images from Dutton, in a more succinct form. It has great tables and charts, and is great for referencing diagnoses, exam techniques, special tests, etc. If you are a PT student, or even a clinician, this is a great reference to have in your library!

I found this book to be handy for my clinical rotation because it was small and easy to carry around and was easy to find what I needed quickly!

Dutton - Orthopaedic Assessment, Evaluation & Intervention,
By
This review is from: Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention, 2nd Edition (Book & DVD) (Hardcover)
This book is a brilliant reference for Physiotherapists or anyone in a related field. It is very comprehensive. My only criticism is that it is only two-colour print.

This book was a real disappointment. I purchased it be because it was so popular on amazon. The problem with it is that it is trying to be too much, and ends up being unweildy. It is written by a physical al therapist, and is not useful at all for a practicing physician.

This book is hard to read and although is a good resource to have, I like the Magee and other supplemental versions better. I am in grad school and like the material to be more organized and repetitive, so for the money I would buy something else and use the library for this particular book.

Why would you buy Magee?,
By
This review is from: Orthopaedic Examination, Evaluation, and Intervention, 2nd Edition (Book & DVD) (Hardcover)
I have no idea how anyone can recommend Magee over this book - Magee's book is just a litany of special tests, is not evidence-based and only covers the examination, with no details about manual techniques for treatment, therapeutic exercise, biomechanics....I could go on. Not many books get an impartial Doody 5-star, so those that do thoroughly deserve it, including this one. While the book is certainly not the most portable, it contains a ton of really good information, not only for a student, but also for anyone thinking of taking the OCS exam.

The book is a very good resource for orthopedics. Incredible detail, although overwhelming at times. The number of referenced resources is impressive.
