This book contains 5,276 one sentence questions followed by brief one sentence answers on 329 pages. There are no pictures, figures, graphs, tables or references. Its sole purpose is for the rote assimilation of a large quantity of factual information. The topics covered include: Basic science, oncology, spine, trauma, hip/femur, knee/tibia/fibula, foot/ankle, shoulder/humerus, elbow, hand/wrist/forearm, Pediatrics, and rehabilitation. Allowing for differences of opinion, I do not see gross errors. However such a book cannot be used by itself: In the preface, the author recommends that the reader consult with "AAOS publications or Miller's Review of Orthopaedics" if detailed explanations are needed. Cross references to these publications would be very helpful to the trainee who wishes to develop a logical framework in which to understand the facts as well as memorize them. Nevertheless, there is no getting around the need to memorize a large number of facts and this book certainly helps achieve that goal.
