5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Lawn Reference Book, April 10, 2000
This review is from: Ortho's All About Lawns (Ortho's All About Gardening) (Paperback)
I just bought my house and have a 2 acre lawn. This book taught me everything I needed to know to get started on building a great looking lawn. All aspects of lawn care from seed selection, fertilizers, insecticides and pest eradication to mower blade hights and turf types. Lots of pictures. A must have reference book for anyone looking to take better care of their lawns, establish a new lawn, or repair problem lawns. I take this book with me to nurserys and Home Depot when I need to select fertilizers, seeds and insecticides. After reading this book I can hold conversations with my Brother-In Law who is a professional landscaper. He's amazed at the amount of information I have.

I origonally checked this book out from our local library, and after reading it, decided that I must have a copy for myself. All aspects of lawn care for old and new lawns are covered along with very good color pictures and illustrations. Definitely a book to have and follow if your serious about having a lawn to be proud of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, No-nonsense information., June 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ortho's All About Lawns (Ortho's All About Gardening) (Paperback)
Just bought a house in the winter and now its almost Summer and my lawn has been invaded by weeds and bald spots. Being a previous apartment dweller I had no idea about lawns. I searched high and low for books that would help and didn't find any that deals with the subject as simply and straight forward as this book does. Thanks to this book I now have the knowledge to replace my entire lawn, purchase the right kind of seeds and, most importantly avoid weeds.
