5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! Plus Popping tip
I'm addicted to this product.

I had burned kernels my first few times but discovered a tip from a competing brand.
Microwave a couple cups of water in your microwave right before you do the popcorn.
Our mw is an 1100 watt unit and I use 90% power for 2:05...comes out perfectly nearly all the time
Don't leave the water in when you pop the bag...

2.0 out of 5 stars Popcorn tastes like crap
I ended up with a huge box of Orville Redenbachers Smart Kettle corn and I can tell you that if you want an absolutely tasteless popcorn, buy this one. It's horrible. It's not even the huge pieces of popped corn. Now...what to do with a large box of Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop Kettle Corn Popcorn, 3-Count Boxes (Pack of 12) box of this good-for-nothing box of...

I don't know what it is....i don't like artificial sweeteners either, but i can't stop eating this stuff. i never had a need to eat a particular product on an almost daily basis. but this kettlecorn just calls to me. it's crazy. it's delicious, and pops up well (less than 5-10 leftover kernels in the bag ususally), and again....i can't stop eating this. it's a bit irritating.

But, luckily, it is, as one reviewer said, the healthiest of the microwaveable commercial kettle corns. i even saw it listed on the men's health book "eat this, not that" as the product one should eat, if you're going to eat the stuff anyway. and eat away i am.

i just went through a 36 count package in less than 2 mo. kinda sad, really, but i'm not gaining any weight because of it, at least.

if you must eat instant popcorn, don't mind artificial sweetener (even if you do mind it a bit, and avoid it usually) i have to say, get this popcorn. i can't NOT get it. i really really like it. *sigh*

I love this popcorn! I actually tried Kettle Corn by mistake one time -- after a few bites I was convinced and have switched for good from the regular butter flavored popcorn. This is a great low calorie snack and you get alot of popcorn!! It's just the right blend of sweet and salty. I am borderline diabetic so the fact that it is sweetened with Splenda rather than real sugar is a BIG PLUS.

Does this taste like the kettle corn you buy from a fair or street vendor? No. Of course not. I'm not sure how people thought this product would achieve it's nutritionals without an artificial sweetener or a change from what they're used to from "kettle corn", but people tend to expect the unrealistic. This is mildly sweet and mildly salty. I add a sprinkle of extra sea salt, and it takes care of many junk-food cravings for me.

No, it doesn't taste like true kettle corn. No, it isn't the pinnacle of health-food achievements. But it is tasty, not terrible for you, and definitely a better alternative to many of the snack foods out there! I'm so glad I can buy it in bulk from amazon, because it's my go-to crunchy food.

This is a very good flavor pop-corn, 94% fat free. This is the best brand of all out there for the lower fat keettle pop corn.
Update: I was also having problems with burning, I discovered that if I place the bag (after shaking it) on a soup plate, the popcorn doesn't burn. Toward the end I also listen to the pops, if it stop popping for 4 seconds in between pops, I stop it, that means it is all done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great low calorie snack!, August 22, 2010

I found this in my pantry today not realizing I had bought it a while ago. I love Kettle Korn type popcorn and after popping it up, this one turned out to be no different. I pretty much ate the whole bag since I had a sweet tooth but didn't feel guilty with its low calories.

Personally, I couldn't tell there was sucralose in this and didn't realize there was until I got online! I doesn't bother me even if I wish it weren't in there. Take the good with the bad. IMO, the anti artifical sweetner bandwagon is a little overboard believing all of it is the antichrist or will cause cancer. My reasoning for this conclusion is that artifical sweetners have been around for such a long time without any real documented long term side effects. Also, the lab rat tests with artifical sweetners use such an incredible amount of sweetners that no human being could consume it in a day. Even Vitamin C is harmful if consumed in excessive amount. Water is lethal if you drink too much. But no one goes around saying to avoid either of these.

Still, I wouldn't give artifical sweetners to pregnant women or children but that's my opinion. And I do try to avoid artifical sweetners when a can. But I figure everything in moderation. Also popcorn offers no nutritional value: basically it's crap. But if you're gonna eat junk, why not calorie junk? Better than eating chips or donuts.

One thing about Amazon - you can buy in bulk without leaving home! What a great deal this was. Not often do I find Smart Pop in quantity. Amazon had it. I bought, it arrived in record time and I'm enjoying it.
