Just wanted to give folks what the tracklist for this album are (I tried to edit the product information to add this but I cannot figure out how to do this there so thought I'd just do it in a "review").
1. GIRL NATION 2. ZOMI 3. RIM OF HELL 4. SLEEPING MY DAY AWAY 5. LORDS OF THE ATLAS 6. WILD TALK 7. OVERMUCH This album was recorded live in Osaka, Japan on 4/23/90. My copy was released in Japan that year - I don't know why the listing says "1999" for the release date here on Amazon.

After keeping an eye out for this disc for years I was finally in a position to get my grubby hands on a copy. And given this thing seems to fluctuate in price between $20 and $40 I'd have to say, as a long time fan of D.A.D that this long discontinued disc is... not really worth that much.
Don't get me wrong. It's a good album of fun tunes played in a lively fashion. The band were on a high at this point and the numbers are all ones quite well known to D.A.D's fans. The production is traditional and adequate and the vibe of the thing - so important in a live release, is good, Jesper Binzer leading the merry band on another sweat soaked night of hard rock `n' roll on the No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims Tour. So why do I say totally positive things about this album and yet say it's not worth the money? Well because it's only eight tracks for starters. Secondly it has only tracks from the No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims album. No curios, no fun covers, no geeky early wacky tunes that long time fans know are in this bands history. I'm way on board for these guys but as fun as this is and as good as the tunes are this is a perfunctory live album and the fact that it doesn't seem to have ever been on general release speaks volumes. I remember when this came out and it was a Japan only thing at that point. Things don't seem to have changed. So as a big fan of these guys over the years - if you want a live album of theirs get yourself the Psychopatico double live release. If your looking for something that spans their catalogue go for that same thing or their Good Clean Family Entertainment You Can Trust which contains more of their history. |
