A Kid's Review
This review is from: Osama Bin Laden (Biography (Lerner Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
The planes hit the twin towers on September 11th. This is what happened as an effect of Osama bin Laden. Osama's life began in Saudi Arabia in 1957. When he became an adult he fought the Russians in Afghanistan and was a devout Muslim. Then he made Al-Qaeda and planned terrorism on the Western world. Bin Laden organized September 11th and has gone into hiding since. I would recommend Osama bin Laden because it is about understanding terrorism. It talks about his unusual boyhood and his involvement in MAK and Al Qaeda.

When Osama life was a kid he never thought about terrorism. Instead, his life was bland. He didn't do much but he enjoyed riding horses and he had a good friend named Abdul Aziz. Also, when Osama was in his early 20s, he wasn't thinking about terrorism but was partying and drinking. This is unusual because most Muslims don't drink. He also enjoyed fast cars. Abdullah Azam changed him back to a fundamentalist Muslim. Also something that sort of makes sense with an evil criminal was that his parents were divorced. He eventually lost contact with his only friend.

Also interesting is his time as an early adult when he wasn't completely terrorist minded. Osama bin Laden started MAK. It was to defend the Muslim world from the USSR. He wasn't going to use terrorism. He would fight the USSR in Afghanistan. He almost got killed by the Russians. The Russians were about 9 feet away from him when he saw them. It's freaky because if he got killed September 11th wouldn't have happened. Also when the Russian troops left it's surprising that he didn't back down and fight for Islam. Instead his view became even more radical and he eventually wanted to kill Western civilians too.

Osama's reasoning with al Qaeda is extreme. For instance, when bin Laden bombed the U. S. Embassy in Kenya. It is stupid because what good does it do him to bomb a building? Also, if bin Laden wants to kill Americans then why bomb Kenya. It also only killed 20 people. Another thing is why does Osama think that Al Qaeda can overthrow the world. First, they don't have enough money and people. Then, once they're in power, what will they do? Why would they think Allah like Osama does? Another thing is September 11th. He thought it would be good to kill Americans who had nothing to do with Al Qaeda. The attack also killed Muslims, which seems like something bin Laden would hate. Also why would he think bombing the Pentagon would severely hinder the American government.

This book Osama bin Laden, is interesting because it explains his life from the time he was growing up, to when he fought the Soviets, to when he became a terrorist and that he is and idiot!`
