I have collected over 100 Peterson recordings and this has to be my favorite. First of all, this CD was recorded AFTER his stroke. In fact, I have played this CD for people that have no idea that they are listening to a man essentially using one hand. Oscar has limited use of his left, as I saw at the Blue Note in 1998.
The fire that he has going in this recording is truly astounding. In fact, on Sweet Georgia Brown, he plays some of the most inventive lines that I have ever heard him play on this tune. This CD is important. It shows, to an even greater extent, the true genious of Oscar Peterson. To have a health setback like that and to "come back" as he did is remarkable. This CD changed my entire practice regiment after I heard what he was able to do with what amounts to one hand. This recording was earth shattering for me. Buy this CD....you won't regret it.

If someone told me I could only keep one CD (hopefully they would allow a double), there is no doubt I would choose this one. I am mesmerized by it! It is soulful, upbeat and moving all at once. The slow romatic tunes are surprising (and surprisingly rich). All tunes offer something. Five stars all the way!

I just bought this CD today. I'm jamming to it right now and smoke is coming out of the CD player!
A great combination of swinging jazz and tight grooves will keep your toes tapping and head bobbing while you listen to this. The more subtle tunes are also very beautiful.

Oscar does not get any better than this 2 CD set. He is joined by a Dane, Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson on Bass, Canadian Lorne Lofsky on Guitar and Englishman Martin Drew on drums. This international quartet Peterson compositions combine with jazz standards to create an outstanding jazz concert. OUTSTANDING!

Every track is astonishing. But I'd say Sweet Georgia Brown is the clincher. The playful duel between Peterson and Lofsky brings out the best in both artists. One, or rather, two of my favorite cd's.
