I purchased this for my six year-old's birthday because her father and I play guitar and she always wants to be a part of the music practice. She is learning to strum in time and be dedicated to practicing an instrument. We all love playing this. Fabulous quality, take some time to tune. Buy the hard case for it and plenty of picks.

Great quality as far as I can tell and the autoharp comes complete with a tuning wrench and a very nice soft bag with an extra pocket and strap.

After the initial tuning, the autoharp sounded wonderful. I didn't know the tuning crank came along with the harp as I ordered a separate one so that I could tune the harp. Now I have two. The auto harp looks very well made and shipped well packed and protected. I was happy it arrived perfectly and quicker then expected. I was hoping it had included a small sheet explaining how it worked or something to try and play. I have no experience with this instrument and had to order a book/dvd for learning. A sample music sheet would of helped since I can read music. Overall I am very pleased with my autoharp.

I received the OS 21 Chord Autoharp,with a tuner(it did have to be tuned) and picks, although it would have been nice to have known that a case was not included before I purchased it.I have since, purchased a Hard Shell case.This autoharp is beautiful and I received it a few days before the stated arrival time.All in All I am pleased with this purchase.

I received my instrument yesterday. Not only is it very beautiful, but has solid construction. Very pleased with the sound performance; very smooth transition from chord to chord. This is the third Oscar Schmidt autoharp I have owned. This one is the best. I'm looking forward to hours of playing pleasure. Highly recommend! You won't be disappointed.

I own one of these and it is a pleasure to play. It holds a tune nicely and I find that the more often I use it the better it holds it tuning. I'm sure there are skilled artisans building one at a time instruments that are far and away superior to these mass produced instruments but for the money this has been a fabulous buy for me. I hope my toddler picks it up later on so I have an excuse to get a second harp--I love how easy this instrument is with the chord buttons, but with a couple of good DVD instructions on playing I've begun to use different strumming techniques and even pluck the melody and at each step I am all the happier I dove in a purchased this autoharp for myself.

I'm not a skilled musician, but I so enjoy the mellow sound and the pleasure of being able to make an instrument give out a recognizable tune--go for it!

oh, and it sounds good with friends who bring in guitar and fiddle and keyboard.

This instrument looks beautiful, has excellent sound and desirable features such as built-in acoustic pickup, tuning indicator and the fine-tuning system. However, it arrived unplayable due to manufacturing defects which would have been caught by the most cursory quality control inspections. A screw was twisted off, allowing the chord bars to drop onto the strings. Two chord bars were severely warped, which made excessive pressure necessary in order to damp the unwanted notes in the chords. This was not shipping damage, as the unit was very well packed. Thanks to the diligence of the retailer, OS sent replacement parts which I installed. If you buy an Oscar Schmidt instrument, I recommend that you check it out thoroughly before leaving the store.

By that I mean I wish I had bought this years ago! I love this instrument. Yes, at first it needs frequent tuning, but as the strings "temper" fewer tunings are necessary. Also, the delivery estimate was for December 27th and I happily got it on Christmas Eve! The best X-mas present (to myself) EVER!

This autoharp is a lot of fun. If you have every played harmonica, this is very similar. Not alot of music theory involved to get you playing right away. This instrument is constructed well a has a great finish. This autoharp is well worth the money

am happy with this harp. even though new, it seems to be holding its tune. it has a built-in tuner but that is either not great or i'm not enough musician to use it. i have a stand alone korg digital tuner. tuning the harp is not that difficult even for beginners. the trick is to make very tiny adjustments and be patient. i wouldn't especially recommend or rely on the built in tuner and don't think it adds value but it's okay, not in the way, and, as i said, i'm a musical dabbler with no perfect pitch and hardly an ear, so maybe it would work for a true musician. then again, that person would not need it. the korg was recommended by a true musician and it's great.
