A good value, but you must know some things...,
This review is from: Oscar Schmidt OG2CETR Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar (Electronics)
I am currently happy with this item, but there are some things you must first know about it:1. The 9V battery for the pickup is only accessible through the small sound hole. You must loosen and spread the strings to get to it. The battery had fallen off during shipping and was rattling around in the body when I got it, but no damage was done. 2. The pickup seems to be just a microphone attached to the bridge area inside the body. When I play and I get too close to my amp or too loud, I get loud feedback. If I shout at the bridge, I can hear my voice a bit. Sometimes when shifting the body in my hands or sliding my fingers up the factory strings, I can hear it on the amp. This, however, is only at high volumes. Playing at a reasonable volume, however, it sounds fine. Just don't expect to play a loud gig with this. 3. The strings that came with it were terrible, and they came factory installed in a really slipshod fashion. Essentially, they had tied a knot at the end of the string, fed it through the bridge hole, and wound it around the peg. When I tried to tune the high string, it kept pulling through the hole. I went and bought a set of Martin crystal strings and they look, feel and play much better. That also eliminated the sound I heard on the pickup when sliding my fingers up the strings. I also strung them up by using the over, under, over, under method common to classical guitar stringing. I have also read a suggestion that using a different, larger knot will also solve the problem. I did not try that. Since I have gone through these three items, I have been playing it for two evenings straight and have no other problems not common to all ukuleles. Yes, you will need to tune it every 5 minutes for the first few hours of play, the strings will settle in after you've tuned it a couple dozen times. This is normal.

Ive just got the item and why isnt it an electric acoustic guitar???The title says it is, and theres pictures of one so i thought the ukelele pictures were just mistaken. Ive paid for what the item claims to be, im highly disappointed with it. Horrible.

Its a so so uke,

I guess the old cliche applies here also: 'you get what you pay for'. The normal price for a well designed and well made ukuelele would run around $150-200, and when I saw the price of this uke I thought it was a great deal. The quality of the wood, frets, and nots are great. What lacks is the pickup. The uke that I bought has a distorted harsh sound when I play due to the pickup. It seems like it was just shoved in the small tiny space of the uke and wasn't taken into careful consideration.

We got this acoustic electric guitar to spare my husband's shoulder when he plays.Acoustic is much friendlier than a flat electric for body machanics. It has helped alot but more surprisingly it turned out to be a nice guitar for the price. Easy to play, nice sound. Built-in turner. The only drawback is the volume is right on top and is easily bumped while playing.

With a Uke in this price range, you get what you pay for. The electronics quit 5 months after I bought it. I called "Oscar", he didn't want to see a receipt, he sent me a replacement electronics, no questions asked. It was still under warranty, barely. Leads me to think this is a common problem.

i love this ukulele, most of the reviews above say its bad but i bought it any way and it is one of the best i have ever played.one really nice thing is it has active pick ups(you can plug it in an amp)the other reviewers said that the pic up sux but it is sooo nice.when you first buy it it will cum out of tune really fast but that happens to every uke because the strings havent set in but after a few days it will stay in tune.the price is really good for what you are getting.trust me just go for it.the last thing is,the other review says that the batter only comes out by loseing the strings.that is untrue, you just open it from the top with your fingers.i hope you have as much fun as i do.=)
