Beautiful instrument, and great sound.

I waited 4-weeks for the item to arrive due to backorder situation, even though the site claimed 4 in-stock, and was happy to get the Baritone Uke on a Thursday.

If you are lucky, you may get one of those.

I actually returned the ukulele. I believe a good electric uke should sound good plugged in or not. This one did not have great sound when I just wanted to pick it up and play without plugging it into the amp. It's a pretty ukulele, but no substance.

I was very disappointed with the sound and set up of this ukulele. The bridge is poorly set up, the strings buzz all the time and do not seat well on the bridge--the nickel wound ones chink up, creating an even more pronounced buzzing sound. This instrument is over priced and not very much fun to play, yet quite aesthetic. In addition, I have no complaints about the electronics. The pickup seems to be in good order. The headstock and tuning pins are also well made, unfortunately this is a waste of good craftsmanship, given the bridge it is attached to.

I am a music teacher and would not recommend this brand for purchase by any of our parents.

I purchased this uke and have enjoyed it very much. It plays in tune and sounds great with Aquila strings. The electronics work great. It sounds great through a bass amp, accoustic amp, or my little Peavy PA. It is laminate koa and is beautiful. It will not sound like a solid instrument but it is probably one of the best plugged in. It has plenty of volume unplugged when I practice in my living room. It has an over built neck that is quite sturdy. It also has a nice large bridge.

Action - My new uke needed to have the action lowered, but that is common on most ukuleles. I am about to lower it slightly more but it plays great with no buzzes. Remember that a higher action has more volume but a lower action can buzz if played to hard. They come a little high so you can set it up to your needs.

Aquila Strings - I love the sound and they do stay in tune well. My main problem with Aquilas is that the wound strings do not last as long as the B and E string. On a previous uke I broke the G string right away. Here is my solution. I use Aquilas for the B and E and use a high quality wound nylon string. I have been pleased with D'Adarios for wounds. You can buy a pack of bari strings and use the wounds or buy singles of the correct diameter at a local shop or at juststrings.com.

I will play the Aquila wounds that came with my uke until they mess up then I will put on nylon wounds.

I would have given this a five, but I had to pay for having it setup after delivery. The frets were uneven, and strings too high off of the neck. This is common with new instruments, but corrected by having the instrument setup before delivery. Most music stores do this for their customers. All in all, though, the ukulele is beautiful and plays great, especially now.

I purchased this uke for a friend for her husband's 40th birthday and when it arrived I didn't want to give it to him - it looks so good!! The wood grain on this is great and the gloss finish is wonderful, he instantly fell in love with it. We play in a small ukulele group so he is going to change the Baritone strings over to the standard ukulele GCEA tuning so that he can play along with the rest of us. Once he's done that and I've heard him playing it I will update my review with the sound/tone.

I am a BIG fan of this instrument. I have played it for 2 years now and it seems to get better as the instrument ages and becomes more "seasoned." I bought it in November of 2011 and immediately changed the strings to Aquila mainly because of reviews here on Amazon. The first time I played it with the original strings I almost returned it immediately. Instead I replaced the strings and It sounded like a totally different instrument. The bottom notes are clear and very rich, while the B and E strings have that distinctive Uke sound. When I first changed strings I lowered the action a bit. Next string change I may lower it a bit more. It is true that when you buy from Amazon, they do not "Set-Up" the instrument for you. Most Music Stores that sell Guitars and such will do the set up for you if you are not comfortable doing it yourself. But call around to several stores BEFORE you purchase the instrument and find out the cost for this service. MOST stores set up their own instruments for free so factor that into your buying decision. There are several You-Tube videos that will show you the procedure.. Just be careful not to adjust it TOO LOW or you will get buzzing and other nasty sounds.
The When I play it my wife (who is also a musician) always comments how great the sound is from this instrument. Plug this little beauty into an Amplifier and it is truly amazing!.
Aesthetically it is a very beautiful. The Shine is easy to maintain and it looks like I'm playing a $500.00+ instrument.

This is a quite well made ukulele with a nice finish, for sure. The action is high and would need to be taken care of by lowering the saddle. However, given the noticeable string buzz above the fifth fret, that is going to be a difficult option as there is no adjustable truss rod to easily compensate with.

Played acoustically, this ukulele is nothing to rave about. I have played ukes half or a third this price that sounded as good or better. Plugged-in, you will find noticeable piezo-pickup squeek if you play all along the fretboard. For just chording along with a song, anything below the fourth fret is OK.

Given the poor action, passable acoustics, and just-OK electric sound, I had to send this one back :-( These are mass-produced, factory-assembled ukuleles, and every now and then one of them is going to be a great uke. If you are lucky, you may get one of those. If this critter was $125 cheaper, it would be a better buy ... but would still have had playability problems.
