What's Missing!,
By Linda W. Mateer (Balt.MD.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I have the original vinal LP. I was truly hoping that the listing of songs shown for the CD was a partial list. The original album was a double record set.I am disappointed that the CD is incomplete. There were some nice ( and different) pieces on the original LP.If the complete version is availabe somehow,I would like to know how to get it.

A Fantastic Osmond Family Christmas,
By
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I was so happy to see this Christmas album on sale in cd format. I had the vinyl format years ago.
This is one of the greatest Christmas album by the best family singing group - The Osmonds!!! The harmonies are superb and the songs - inspiring! This is one Christmas cd that is a must! So are Clay Aiken and Donny Osmond's Christmas cds!

Some of the best Christmas music available,
By
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I loved this album on vinyl when I was younger, and I love it on CD now. I almost bought this particular release until I stumbled across the British import, which you can find by searching for B00005QZJD, which includes the all important Caroling Medley. There are still a few songs missing from the original double-album release, but until we get a full-length version, I think it's the next best thing.Beautiful harmonies, wonderful arrangements, Christmas music at its best.

An unfinished holiday memory,
By A Customer
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
The 8 missing songs really take away from, what for me was a treasured holiday memory. Also the remixing of some of the songs to include Marie, changes, and I think almost ruins the distinctive Osmond family harmonies. All in all I would recomend this CD to anyone. Having grown up listening to the original version of this album on 8-track, it brings back many memories of my childhood. The record company would do well to re-rerelease this album in its original form.

Need for the other half of the original,
By astig (Manila, Philippines) - See all my reviews

The long wait is over! Partially over, at least! I searched high and low for this album which was THE Christmas album of my youth. I had the original vinyl of this album and loved it tremendously. I'd play it even in the middle of the year. I am so happy that I finally found a copy of the album. However, it pains me to see that the present CD only has half of what was in the LP. I sorely miss the other songs, especially the one that goes "Carolling, carolling, here we go.....Christmas bells are ringing. "The Christmas Carolling Medley," I think it was called. Aren't the Osmonds going to come out with this other half of the original recording? We will be intently waiting to find out.

Where's Jimmy?,
By Heather (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
My mom owned this album when I was a kid, and we always listened to it at Christmas time. Even though I am too young to remember when the Osmonds were at the top, this has always been my favorite Christmas album. But my favorite songs were the ones that Jimmy sang, "It Never Snows in L.A." and "If Santa Were My Daddy." I was VERY disappointed that these were omitted from this album. Yesterday I found the British version of the album with 6 more songs including Jimmy's on Amazon and ordered it. Dont waste your money on this one. Get the British version instead.

Where's my Sleigh Ride?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
This album first came out when I was about 12 years old. I loved it, loved it to death in fact. The scratches are deeply embedded, believe me. But times change and LPs went the way of the dodo. My record player was replaced by CD players several years ago but I still lug around a huge collection of dusty LPs for some odd reason. Probably hoping to one day replace them all with CDs. Which is what has happened with this one. But I was disappointed that many of the original tracks have bitten the dust.Oh, actually, not completely disappointed. I really didn't need to hear "If Santa were my Daddy" (ugh!) ever again. But I did like "Sleigh Ride" and a couple others that are not present on the CD version. I don't believe artists should be able to edit/remove tracks from original albums when switching to a newer medium. It's just not the same. At least my favorite track survived. It is "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas/Pine Cones and Holly Berries." Thanks to Curb records for re-releasing whatever remnants remain of this album for my listening pleasure.

A nice walk down memory lane with some great Christmas music,
By
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I was a preteen Osmond fan when I bought the original record - a double album set. It instantly became my favorite Christmas album and even after growing out of my Osmond years, I still enjoyed this particular album every Christmas. Then record players eventually went the way of the dinosaur and I had to put the album away. I was excited to see the CD version come out and ordered it. While some of my favorite tracks remain in tact, others seemed to have changed to include Marie and others were completely gone. With this CD, a lot of great Christmas music is back, but sadly, some great Osmond harmonies are missing (most notably the caroling medley).

Christmas-Wanted More,
By Laurie M. Meyer (New Braunfels, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I was excited to finally find the CD to my favorite Christmas album. I was very disappointed to find that only 12 of the original 20 songs were included. I was looking foward to hearing Merrill's version of "A Very Merry Christmastime", which is not on this CD. However, the songs on this release are wonderful to listen to and would recommend this album to anyone...Osmond fan or not.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Osmond Family Christmas (Audio CD)
I owned the original Osmond Family Christmas on vinyl LP. There were more songs on the orignial than on this released CD. Yes I know you can get more music on a CD. However there are several songs missing. To me it should be the complete album. This was very disapointing since I am a fan. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 2CD collection.
