If anything has become a commodity, it is the humble daypack. But with dozens to choose from, even down here in far flung Tasmania, I couldn't go pass the features of this pack which is not available locally. So I waited anxiously for my order to be filled, hoping it would survive the long trip down under. I needn't have worried. Within 2 weeks my pack arrived in perfect condition. I am not disappointed.

First of all the workmanship is perfect. Every zipper is cleanly sewn and all the stitching is pretty much flawless. The materials all appear to be first rate to my inexpert eyes. I wasn't aware when I ordered that Osprey offer an unconditional lifetime guarantee, so I'm pleased to think this purchase could be a sound investment.

I've already had this pack out in the field at least 8 or 9 times and it has proven to be comfortable and well balanced. Everything seems to be in pretty much the right place for me. I love the way the compression and adjustment straps all fall within reach. I like to constantly fine-tune the load between waist and shoulders (there's lots of steep up-and-down, boulder hopping and often bit of scrambling here in Tas). This pack is easy to adjust on the run.

I'm delighted with the product and the value. And, kudos to Amazon for (once again) great service and best price.

The pack fits very well. It has plenty of space for a day trip or minimalist 2 or 3 day. The pack's front pockets are keen and they finally made a pack with it's own built in rain cover! The pack is sturdy and the suspension system is great. I would recommend this product to everyone.

I bought this pack because I like Osprey packs, they're thoughtfully designed; I like the suspended mesh backpanel, and I didn't want a pack with a "brain".

I was really excited about this at first but Unfortunately it didn't pan out as well as I'd thought and now after using OFTEN (I am a backcountry ranger) all summer and in the spring and fall shoulder seasons I've returned mine to REI.

The primary problem was that the wire frame dug into my hips / lovehandles (I'm 5'10" 155lbs so it's not really a fatness issue on my part)... No amount of adjusting the fit or load would really fix that. The design was curved too much I think. Sure my back didn't get too sweaty, but it put the weight too far back and too low in the pack so it ended up torquing the load (via the frame wires) into my hips, to the point I'd often come home from big mile hikes bleeding. It's probably fine for people running lighter loads, but I carry tools and survival supplies for work and so anything over about 12lbs started to be miserable. This pack really ought to be comfortable up to about 25lbs and would be if the load carried better, its padding is more than sufficient for those weights.

It was also a bit difficult to load and organize. The outside pocket intruded onto the interior space as you loaded it rather than expanding outward, the top wallet and keys pocket was always in the way when accessing the main compartment and the heavily curved space of the main pocket which was further intruded upon by the outside pocket made it a royal pain in the ass to find anything. Plus it just didn't open very wide.

The buckles on the iceaxe holder were also flimsy... way not strong enough to hold larger tools, ie. axe, pick-mattock etc. Nor was it adjustable.

This is a great pack at a reasonable price. Many awesome features that other mfrs may have forgotten or ignored. Quite a step up from my old daypack that it replaces. Will get the Osprey hydration bladder to go with it next. Not a full-on complaint exactly, but something I would have preferred: the shoulder straps are not the same color fabric as the body of backpack. They are a lighter shade. Maybe this was the intended style choice, but kind of reminds me of a patchwork deal.

Oh, word to the wise, make sure you check Osprey's sizing guide BEFORE you buy! A proper fit can make a world of difference.

I am a day hiker in Arizona. The pack is a little oversized for simple day hikes but will be perfect for hiking this summer in Europe. I am tall 6' 4" and the large pack fits perfectly with the waist strap riding just on the top of my hips and conveying the weight of the load off my shoulders and on to the waist. I also bought the Osprey hydration pack which fits nicely inside the pack (as expected). I also appreciate some of the smaller features such as the small zippered pockets on the waist strap which hold a ready chewy bar and my point and shoot camera. The stow and go holder straps for my pole works perfectly as well. In summary, works as advertised and completely comfortable for a good hike (15 miles, 6 to 8 hours).

Osprey makes a great backpack. Lots of adjustments and pockets. The AirSpeed feature keeps the pack off my back and I love the waist support, which is the main reason I looked for a different pack in the first place.

Even though the pack was listed as used, it came in the original plastic and was never used. Good price. Count me satisfied.

I was in need of a new, more comfortable day pack with a bit more room. I had recently bought my son a very nice one from another company (which he really loves) and almost knee-jerked into buying one for myself. Decided to check around "just for kicks" and stumbled onto Osprey's Stratos 34. Was instantly intrigued by the mesh back-panel (which Osprey refers to as their AirSpeed suspension) that provides a remarkable breathing capability. Checked out a similar Osprey model at my favorite hang-out (they didn't have a Stratos) and was sold. Just back from hiking in AZ where I subjected the day pack to the desert heat and higher altitude snowfields - it did not disappoint in either element! This is the most comfortable day pack I have ever shouldered with plenty of room, tons of pockets and numerous load adjustments that keep your hiking pleasurable all day. The vented mesh back panel worked beautifully in the desert heat. I am 6'2, 200 lbs and the large fits perfectly. I haven't had a chance to have the hip belt heated and molded yet but it's very comfortable "right out of the box". I highly recommend this day pack and give it a strong 5-stars. Anyone considering this pack should check out all the features at the Osprey site here... [...]
