The Osprey 50 can really hold a lot of gear. the stitching is strong enough to hold odd shaped items that tend to "poke" through on cheaper bags. The shape of the main compartment takes some getting used to due to it conforming shape.
The shoulder straps on the Osprey 50 are very comfortable number one and do not dig into your shoulder blades at the top. There are plenty of adjustments to get the weight of our shoulders and distribute it to your hips. The mesh lining in the back of the Osprey 50 keeps the pack off of your back while maintaining stability. The mesh is made strong and also allows for storage of a water bladder.
I have no complaints about the Osprey 50 what so ever. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
The pockets and straps are extremely well thought out. On the front of the bag are two very long pockets, long enough for me to fit a tripod in one and my tent poles in the other.
My only complaint about the bag is the shoulder straps. They are pretty thin, and aren't very well padded. My shoulders were very sore after carrying a 45 lb pack 12 miles.
The pack was great. It was comfortable and easy on your back. I was in the SF for a long time and I will tell you that there is nothing nicer than to have a great pack on your back.
It held my Camal Bak water bladder just fine and all the pockets worked out great. I even managed to use the outside pocket as a rifle holder.
5 stars for this pack.

A place for everything. Sleek design doesn't catch on things in woods. Fairly lightweight for the volume of storage space.

My first trip out I literally destroyed this pack! I sent it back to the company for repair totally expecting to pay,not osprey! They replaced it with a brand new one! No charge!Published 22 months ago by penny
Worn it with 35 or 40 pounds for about 20 days. That's a little much for this pack but I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and construction... Read morePublished on January 27, 2012 by Thunderferret
Yeah, the pack is totally fine, though you said in the description that it had 4,000 cubic feet of room! 4,000 cubic inches is probably what you meant.Published on January 22, 2011 by Cody
