The Kode 30 from Osprey serves as a great all-around backpack for your adventures in the backcountry, whether you're going out all day or for just a few hours. Dual, lower reinforced ski-carry loops and upper reinforced V-carry straps enable you to tote skis, snowboards, or snowshoes diagonally. A LightWire frame supports heavier loads and flexes for dynamic movement. A single tool loop works with the upper V-carry straps to securely carry an ice tool.

The front of the Kode 30 features a zippered compartment for avalanche gear, including sleeves for a probe and shovel handle, a place for your shovel blade, and a pocket for a snow/repair kit. The pack's back panel provides access to a dry pocket. Other highlights include a stowable helmet carry and a fleece-lined goggle pocket. In addition, all packs in Osprey's Kode Series come equipped with dual, articulated zipper hip-belt pockets designed for one-handed operation.

An internal, sewn-in hydration sleeve with a reservoir hanger and a fully insulated, dual-zippered harness router with a hypo-allergenic stretch garage offer hassle-free hydration.

The Kode 30 features a panel zip front compartment with probe and shovel-handle sleeves, shovel blade stowage, and a pocket for a snow/repair kit.

Dual, lower reinforced ski-carry loops and upper reinforced V-carry straps combine for an A-frame-style ski carry.

A stowable helmet panel allows you to carry your helmet on the uphill track.

I bought this pack for 2-3 day backpacking trips around Southern California. It's a top-loader, so packing everything in requires a bit of push and pull, but the pack is light, fits very snugly against the body, and is not bulky. The hip support system is phenomenal. I had 40 pounds in my pack, and could barely feel it on my shoulders or back.

Another great thing about this pack is the back itself. There's a mesh frame and supports that hold the pack away from your back, so there's plenty of room for air circulation. No more sweaty backs!

Highly customizable, highly portable, highly recommended.

This pack has a purpose, it is a ventilated pack. It does this job extremely well by letting air flow around your back. It also has hole filled shoulder/hip straps that are surprisingly rugged and comfy.

This pack has a lot of cool features. From those rounded mini bungee/soft-plastic zipper rings, shoulder straps with a whistle, a stretch pocket in front, axe holsters, mesh pockets on the hip straps, floating removable top compartment, just about everything.

I'm in love with mine. I tried on anything and everything REI had, it was between this and a Deuter pack with similar off the back construction, but the Osprey out-classed it by far.

This pack is perfect for full weekend hikes. The best part for me is how much it breathes and keeps my body cool on a long hot day of backpacking and the weight distribution is perfect. If you are considering this pack you should get it.
