This backpack is great for everyday use. Initially I thought it was a little small and it may be for some people but once you start to fill it up with stuff it holds a lot more than you'd think. Actually when I compared it to my old backpack I found that the osprey was bigger. It's a 28L backpack or 1700cu which in my opinion is plenty of room. I like to pack light so I don't need tons of space.

I wanted a versatile backpack and this is what I ended up with after a lot of researching on the internet. Right now I use it for school but it looks like it'll be great for light hiking and traveling as well. If you want a closer look at the backpack, go to the osprey website and they have a nice 3d view of this pack.

So lets get to the nitty gritty. The backpack is light and the materials are somewhat thin, but are of good quality. I wouldn't worry too much about anything tearing or breaking, osprey's known for their quality and they have a lifetime warranty. The zippers are awesome, they have nice loops to grab onto. Other reviews had said they had problems with the zipper snagging on the flaps that cover them, but if you pull them back it isn't really an issue. By the way, the flaps are a great design to protect the zippers/compartments from water. The only zipper that's annoying is on the front organizer pocket where you can put small items in and your keys on a key fob. Sometimes it's a little hard to open and close, but it's really not an issue at all. The main compartment has a laptop sleeve for up to a 15 inch laptop and a document sleeve as well. There's an mp3 pocket at the top of the main compartment and you can route the headphones through a port to the outside. There's also a small zipper stash compartment in the main compartment which is nice.

I pack light when traveling. I have taken this backpack as my only source of luggage all over the world. It has traveled with me on trains, plains, ferries, tuk tuks, cabs, buses and every other mode of transportation that I have taken to every corner of the planet. So far I haven't had one problem.

It has a great set of zippers and pockets.
It has two sleeves in the main compartment to separate your magazines or laptop from the main compartment.
It has a small compartment for an MP3 player in there as well with place for the headphones to come out as well.
A great little front pocket with mesh sleeves to organize your pens tooth, brush or whatever.

Best backpack I have ever owned. The quality is felt the minute you pick this bag up! Each zipper and pocket was well thought out and the design is just perfect for daily use. I carry my 11" MBA, iPad, extra set of clothes, lunch, water bottle and I have room left over...but the nice part about the bag are the straps that allow you to keep the bag small and expand it when necessary. I have found that I use all of the handles. I haven't gone on any hikes yet but it is 100 degrees outside and the bag is very well ventilated. With all the adjustments I was able to make the bag perfectly tailored. Extremely impressed!

Great quality and very roomy. Well thought out compartments. Zippers are a little tough to get with one hand but not a big deal.

I've been using this pack for a couple of weeks now and it is perfect for my needs. My other day pack is a REI 19 liter whch works well for hiking, biking, etc., but I needed a day-to-day pack which could carry all of my electronics and photography equipment comfortably. I own a Compact III DSLR Camera Insert which just fits into the bottom of the pack, with plenty of room for a laptop/tablet, iPod, etc. Great for a daytrip when I don't need all of my photo gear.
My only criticism is that the shoulder straps/harness is somewhat uncomfortable compared to the REI. However, I realize that as a female who is 5-4 and 120# the fit may not be perfect, given the fact that I may have >30# in the pack. Great product!Osprey Comet Backpack

This backpack is designed to be an everyday or commuter bag but it works great travel bag. Straps from when you're touring and handles when using it like luggage on the plane. The two long side pockets are great for items you want to get to without having to go through the whole pack. Lots of pockets and internal sleeves for organization. Very comfortable and built with usual Osprey quality. Finger loops many of the zippers are a great feature you won't find on many companies packs.

This pack is very advanced in its design...lots of tightening belts, adjustable straps, compartments, etc. It looks like Osprey really expended some energy getting this just right, and it shows. The quality of construction is also excellent...durable fabrics and a great look to boot. I originally bought a Mountain Hardwear backpack, and while that bag seemed decent at the time, this Osprey seems much more impressive in comparison.
