Alright, This pack is great! Took it to a 20km hike in Jordan, and I have to say its one of the best purchases i have made in a while. Incredibly comfortable, That airscape backpanel is incredibly breathable. The hip pockets, are beyond perfect easily opened fits any sized candy bar, papers, passport for traveling etc.
I carried about 23 KG of food and water for about 3-4 people, The bag exceeded expectations the torso adjustable harness made carrying all that weight easy and i barely felt i was carrying that much. Vast improvement over my previous bags the Marmot Aspen 35 and the North Face Terra 35. (both excellent bags).

(Update)
I've had this for a few years now, took it to Nepal for the Annapurna circuit and Annapurna Basecamp, various forest trips and camping trips in Canada, and a few in Europe. Still works fine, no tears, deformities of any kind, straps are all there, no tears on the raincover. Very durable backpack. I might upgrade to the Kestrel 48 just because my trips are becoming a lot less dependent on porters and the extra space might be great for my backpacking trip across south east Asia.

Pros:
Torso Harness
Hip Pockets
Rain Cover
Hydration pocket(Externel)
Fits in overhead compartments of International flights

Cons:
Fire red color is not correctly advertised.

I recommend this Backpack for travelling and Day hikes.

Good pack, but note two things:
- it doesn't have a floating lid, so stuffing something like parka under the lid when pack is full will be difficult
- the color of the red one is misrepresented on amazon and Osprey sites. It is not as bright as pictured, and "fire red" is closer to terracotta than it is to red.

This pack is great...sturdy, lots of useful straps and loops, and sits well on my waist and shoulders. I stuff my pack full and it would be nice to be able to have access to the middle section. As it is i can only go through the top and bottom. 1st world problem i guess. Great pack though, recommend it to anyone.

I recently climbed Kilimanjaro with a group of friends and bought a lot of new gear. Obviously the day pack was one of the bigger concerns I had as I would need it to have sufficient capacity and be comfortable for a 7 day climb / hike. I couldn't be more happy with the backpack.

The positives

I tend to be someone who plans for downside (e.g. I keep my bag full with anything the group might need). The different straps (shoulder, chest and waist) were all very comfortable and made the bag feel very light. The shape of the bad also made it comfortable as it is pretty ergonomic and did not lead to stress or pressure on any body part. This might not be a big deal on a one day hike. But was a big concern as we were on a 7 day trail with a fairly steep summit day. The bag also had lots of space and different compartments that were easily accessible. There were multiple small pouches on the waist straps (great for sunscreen and ibprofin. There is a mesh zip net on the underside of the top of the bag (that doesn't require opening the main compartment to access. There is a mesh open net on the outside where I was able to store food in a way that was easy to access without it feeling looser or unsecured. The rainpack was also a big plus. The bag isn't waterproof, so if you are going to any wet area, I strongly recommend the Kestrel. The price difference versus some other Osprey bags is the price of the rain cover. Having it secured and easily accessible in it's own pouch was a big plus though. The nature of our climb involved a lot of varying weather. This pack made it very easy to get the pouch out and put it back inside. Finally, it has a large space in the back for a camel bag (or other type of water reservoir).

Love this bag! I use this on hikes and when traveling home to see the parents. It has a compartment for water pak, and has a rain tarp inside the compartment so you can keep your belongings dry. Also, has straps to hold a sleeping mat/bag and many more things. This is by the far the best backpack I have ever owned and would recommend for hikers, and light campers. If you need to pack a lot of gear for cold weather camps would recommend a larger volume pack.

I used it for overnight backpack and it is absolutely good-looking and durable as well. So far I am satisfied with its quality and it is a good deal when I bought it because the price just raised up a little.
