About Osprey
Things at Osprey move full circle, starting with the people, moving to the product, and then back again to the people for the lifetime of the product. Company founders Mike Pfotenhauer and Laurie White started the company in 1974 in Santa Cruz, California, introducing such features in the next few years as breathable mesh panels, custom-fit internal frame mountaineering packs, and slide adjustable chest straps. The company moved to a former Gore-tex factory in Dolores, Colorado, in 1990, and then to Cortez, Colorado, in 1994. Nestled in the corner of the rugged San Juan mountains and on the edge of vast sandstone canyon country, the Cortez landscape provides the Osprey team with constant inspiration and a superb testing ground for the packs.

The remainder of the team, including Osprey founder and head designer Pfotenhauer, reside in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Surrounded by heat, endless bustle, and vibrant energy, Team Vietnam designs and builds Osprey packs to the company's exacting standards. Living in HCM City provides many benefits, including the ability to ensure fair labor standards for the company's employees and establish face-to-face relationships with the factories that build the company's packs. Osprey's mission is to create innovative, high-performance gear that reflects the employees' love of adventure and devotion to the outdoors.

I've used this twice in the last few months for week long trips. I brought along extra gear for running and biking and had room to spare. The bag compressed nicely. I really like the backpack harness. It does the job without being too bulky or heavy. Much prefer it to wheels.

I bought this pack for a 5 week trip to Europe and was glad I did so. I have nothing negative to say about this pack. The security feature of being able to lock the zippers with a TSA approved lock was reassuring. It was nice to be able to lock my possessions up when I went out on the town without the worry of having someone go through my things. The ability to convert the bag into a backpack was a great feature. I basically used the bag as a backpack when travelling using the train where I put my carryon (plane) bag inside the bag itself. Thus I only had one bag. The small pocket on top was useful to put a book and important documents while travelling. Moreover, this pocket went against my back, so that while walking through busy areas, I had no concern of a pickpocket trying to unzip the pocket. The size of the bag was also a great. As I said when I arrived in Europe, I put my airplane carryon bag inside this pack. Moreover, there was still plenty of room left over for my clothes and presents/curios that I brought back with me. Again, I felt happy that I could lock these gifts up. Finally, the bag stores well in a small place. I would not use this bag for camping in the deep woods, or if you plan on having your pack on everyday in rugged conditions. However, it is an excellent travelling bag for a trip to Europe or elsewhere where you will have a place to stay from which you will do you sightseeing.

I own about 10 Osprey bags in total, from various backpacks to luggage. I use them every time I travel and I will probably never purchase a different brand. This bag served me well for a recent trip I took to Bonnaroo. I was able to fit all of my camping gear in this bag including my sleeping bag, tent, blankets, pillow, sleeping pad and tons of other gear. What's great about this bag is that it is very large but still right under the airline regulation standards for not be an "oversized" bag ($150 fee per flight).

This is a fantastic bag but it's hard to get a "perfect" 5 stars. The only thing I expected to be a little better is the size of the deploy-able backpack straps. I understand it's not meant for long-hauling like a regular backpack but they just don't match the "heftiness" of the rest of the bag. They could be heavier and still stow ok I would think. The reinforced bottom is superb, the compression straps nicely placed, the zippers appear really strong, and I love the handles on top as well as on each end. The main bag material is very strong and appears to be highly water resistant. I expect this bag will last a long time and expect I'll put it to the test. I use this for your typical weekend travels where a suitcase doesn't make sense, both for home and camping trips. The entire bag is designed to stow in the end-pocket opposite the shoulder straps, for whatever reason. I definitely recommend this purchase!

This bag is awesome - really well made. I purchased the smaller one, The Transporter 75, earlier this year & loved it so much that when I knew I needed a larger product, I didn't hesitate to buy this one.

I actually like the backpack straps hidden on one of the pockets; really nice for lugging your bag in the airport. I wish the 46 had similar straps.

This is a great duffle from a great brand.. Really quite big and versatile.. I could do without the backpack straps honestly though and go with an across the shoulder. You would have to pack with the assumption that your things are going to fall to the bottom.. Seems like sturdy construction and the top pocket is great. Overall a great duffle
