Stobart has a lovely ethereal quality to her voice, which shows to advantage in the whole record. Ostara features some delicate and ghostly harmonies, some mandolin and understated guitars providing an understated backdrop to the vocals.
Rothery excels himself, playing some fine acoustic guitars and when Rothery does let go with one of his trademark solos, he, as ever, makes the instrument sing.
This CD features live bonus performances of "Ostara" and "Fly", along with a live video of "Fly. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

Better than anything Rothery's done with Marillion in the last two years,
By lonesome crow (ca,) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ostara (Audio CD)
To all Marillion fans, who remember "The Wishing Tree" project Rothery did in the 90's called "Carival of Souls". A beautiful piece of work done with Marillion Bassist Pete Trewavas, and the beautiful voice of the lovely Hannah Stobart. It was a blend of Celtic acoustic melodies that I just loved and thought another wishing tree would not take place. Ten years later after Steve and Pete continued Marillion with a masterpiece to me known as "Marbles" , the band began to continue with three releases that did not appeal with me and makes me wonder about Marillion's future, Rothery and Hannah return to the fold to make the follow up to C.O.S. in the title "Ostara", I am glad to say that this is better than C.O.S. and this album is full and energy and passion that I enjoy listening to over and over again, This is a cd worth getting and is a release that Rothery and Hannah should be proud of. Hopefully they will not stop at this and we will hear another wishing tree release that will be just as remarkably beautiful.

Listening to this for the second time now online and I had never heard of them, found out album title is a pagan holiday. The title of my review is how I described their beautiful peaceful sound to my fiancee. I love this, like being in heaven. Gonna research who they are.
