Before I bought this quesadilla maker, I used Salton's larger Santa Fe model. But I didn't like how little filling the Santa Fe allowed. Even though it cooks (requires) bigger tortillas than the Oster, the Santa Fe's edge-sealing feature (meaningless to me) takes up far too much tortilla space. I can fill tortillas on the Oster to within a half inch or so of the outer edges.

Another plus for me: The Oster lets me use small corn tortillas, which I prefer over flour tortillas. The Oster takes much less storage space (I store it upright in the corner of a cabinet), has cord storage underneath, and the price is right. Clean-up has been easy: I dab on a tiny bit of canola oil after preheating, then add quesadillas. Cook for 3 minutes or so (both sides cook at once). Then wipe out cooker with damp paper towel.

I purchased the Oster quesadilla maker over a month ago. I am very happy with my purchase. First, it arrived very quickly and was brand new. It was a little smaller than I imagined it would be, and that is the only negative thing I have to say about it. The workmanship of this quesadilla maker is far superior to others on the market. It feels solid, like it will last for decades. I have fixed breakfast and dinner quesadillas with it and it has performed outstanding every time! It is a snap to clean, too. I can take a damp cloth and wipe it clean, and that is all that is required. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a kitchen appliance that will last a long, long time!

I bought this a few years ago and I used it a lot. My husband loves those single frozen pizzas and they fit perfectly in there and turn out nice and crisp. The only problem is the clean up. Once you get oil on it from cooking it is so hard to clean. Also the top part turned black and I was never able to get it cleaned properly. Other than that it worked great for omlets, sandwiches, pancakes, I even made french fries in here. I did have to throw mine out though becuase it just got too difficult to clean

Since I love quesadillas at the mexican restaurants, I thought I would try and make some at home. I have made them before in my cast iron skillets and even non stick skillets as well. But cleaning the skillets and heating up cast iron takes time. I would say that composing the dish takes more time than actually cooking it with this. So far I have made beef, chicken, and shrimp quesadillas with different types of cheeses and veggies and they all turned out great. I used the Fajita seasoning with most of them and that made them really tasty especially when served with salsa and sour cream (& quacamole if I have it).

For me the size is a good serving for my appetite, but if I was really hungry I might eat two. For me cooking time is easy to determine since when the cheese starts oozing out and sizzling, that's a cue that it's ready to take off the grill. Don't fill the tortillas to the edge. Maybe 3/4 of an inch from the edges for the toppings works best for me. I do set my timer for 2 min and go with the sound of the sizzle. Cleaning the heating surfaces is a breeze with a wet paper towel while the grill is still failry hot.

I agree with previous reviewers that the elec. chord is way to short (less than 2 feet), but an extension chord will solve that problem easily. I haven't cooked anything else on it yet, but I think it would make good grilled cheese sandwhich's and I am thinking of trying to cook some crab cakes on it in the future.

All in all I would recommend this product.

I found a brand-new one at my local Goodwill for only $3.00 and wish I'd known about their existence. I definitely would have paid a lot more now that I've used it. Perfect for corn tortillas - wonderfully crispy and no burning (I'd been using a stove-top pan that required constant vigilance). Definitely recommend.

I've used it to make quesadillas (used the flour tortillas and brushed them with butter), omelets and to reheat cold pizza (the pizza tasted almost as good as fresh again) and it worked great. The only drawback is, it makes some weird burnt smell I use it (I've only used it a few times since I just bought it recently) and I could taste it a little bit on the food. The smell reminds me of burnt rubber or some sort but I did notice that it didn't smell as strong the last time I used it, so hopefully it'll go away overtime. Other than that, I still really like it.

Bought this for my kids to make snacks and it's so easy for them to use! Sounds silly, but it didn't include instructions on how to make the quesadillas! We used common sense and they turned out wonderful, but some ideas would have been even better. Still, we highly recommend this maker!

Bought one for work. Super fast, easy cleanup and stores upright to save space. This thing is awesome!
