I picked this up at an appliance sale the other day. Even if it had been free, I would feel ripped-off.

The manual instructs that, when toasting two slices, one should be placed in the center of each side. Since I like my toast quite dark, I put it on 7, the highest setting. If done according to these directions, it burns one edge of the toast while leaving the rest of the slice entirely untoasted. So I tried other positions, placing the slices closer to the edge. Again, it burned one edge of the toast while leaving the rest completely untoasted. (I must admit, it's amazing in its consistency.) I haven't yet tried the lighter toast settings, because how can it get less toasted than NOT TOASTED AT ALL?

Because of this toaster, I will never ever, ever, ever, ever buy another Oster appliance. Save your money, etc., etc.

I bought this toaster at Big Lots for $29.99 because it looked awesome and had the Oster name. I put a slice of bread in each side in the center of the slots. The buttons are very hard to read with normal lighting. Once I finally got close enough to read the small print, I began toasting. Once the toast was done, since the toaster was new, it smelled like welded metal all over the house for about an hour. The toast pops up but since the base that holds the toast is so narrow. One slice fell to the side of the base to the cleaning tray area. I had to pull it back up with a knife. I knew this was going to be an issue with me so I took it back and got a refund. I found another toaster and I looked inside to make sure the base was wide enough.

I wouldn't recommend this toaster to anyone.

I bought this item because of the name "Oster". Well that proved to not be such a good idea. This toaster either under-toasts or over-toasts. It doesn't matter how low or how tiny of a bit you move the dial either. Also, after the first two pieces of toast are toasted (one on each side/in the center), when you put in two more pieces of bread right after to toast, they will be over toasted. You basically have to let the toaster completely cool before attempting a second batch. Either that or adjusting the dial to a lower setting. It's never consistent no matter what you do. This toaster is very disappointing to say the least, but who would have known it would be as bad as it is.

Nice look and the size works well on the corner of my counter, next to my coffee maker. However, I have had problems making toast the way I like. Just like other reviews, the toast tends to burn on the edges of the bread. The number of slices seems to affect how the control should be set, it needs to be lower for 1 slice than it needs to be for 4 slices. I would not buy this product again.

So far so good! Love the look!! I put my setting on 3 and it toasted my bread perfectly on both sides. I just bought it so I have only used it once but seems great!!
