This review is from: Oster 6056 6-Slice Extra Capacity Toaster/Convection Oven, Silver (Kitchen)
I purchased one of these and right off the bat I liked it. It replaced a smaller and very basic Black & Decker unit. The light is a fantastic feature. The convection fan blows air from the right side and I've noticed that the right side of the oven cooks faster. I can see this when making a frozen pizza. One day I bit into a piece of chicken that was WAY undercooked...yuck! I used an oven thermometer and noticed that the temperature in the oven was fully 50-100 degrees below the knob setting, even if given plenty of time to stabilize. I called Oster and they replaced the unit for me...very good customer service. I was within the one year warranty period by a few weeks (instead of outside the warranty period by a few weeks as is usually the case when things break!) The new unit arrived and I immediately checked the heating cycle with my thermometer and the oven set to 350 degrees on the convection bake cycle. The temperature reached 380 degrees then began to decline to 310 degrees over a period of 5-10 minutes. I didn't see it kick back up again so perhaps that's what the oven thought was 350 degrees. I know that ovens work in heating cycles, but this one's settings seemed to be a little coarse. If you require more precise temperature control you might look elsewhere, but for basic heating it seems to do the job for a reasonable price.

This one acutally has a convection fan that you can hear, and feel when it is on! The convection cooking fatureis great, I have made everything from cookies to pies in this oven and they have come out perfect. The light in the oven is a great idea most counter ovens do not have this feature. This appliance is a little larger than an normal toaster oven, but that is so it can hold the six slices of toast, and a 12 inch pizza.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Convection Goodness!, January 18, 2009

Unlike our previous Black and Decker Toast-R-Oven, this one doesn't burn Pop Tarts, it evenly heats leftover pizza without overcooking the crust into a cracker-like consistency.

It fits nicely on my counter. Bigger than our original, it is higher but not much wider or deeper. The best part by far is the light in the inside! Brilliant!

We don't do a lot of heavy counter top cooking, we have a regular over for that. But we do make a lot of toast, heat up foods and every once in a while, cook french fries. I am sure during the summer months, this smaller version will come in handy and keep our kitchen a lot cooler.

4.0 out of 5 stars Over all performance, March 27, 2009

This is a wonderful item to have in your kitchen. There is only a couple of suggestions that I would like to submit.
1. This item does't have any way to let you know when it is preheated.
2. I have checked my oven with three temperture gauges and have found that the oven is 15 degrees higher than what it is set for.
3. This oven saves time, I can usually have what I cook done by the time that it would take my big oven on my stove to preheat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best multi-tasking toaster oven ever., February 1, 2010

I picked this toaster oven for a Christmas gift two years ago. I bragged so much about the versatility of this toaster oven, that my twin sister asked me to get one for her for Christmas. My daughter also received the same for her Christmas gift this year. We all love having toasting, baking, broiling an convection capabilities all in one appliance. Using it has saved me money on my electric, and my kitchen doesn't get all heated up from using my large oven. The only negative is that it takes a few minutes longer to toast that a conventional toaster, but it is well worth it because you can toast six slices at once. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT TOASTER CONFECTION OVEN, April 18, 2009
I have been looking for a new toaster oven for a long time now. I spent hours, on various sites including Amazon, reading reviews. I don't recall this toaster oven (pictured above - Oster with brushed stainless steel and manual knobs) on Amazon at the time I looked and could not find one I liked. I ended up finding this one at Target for about $50.00 on sale. I took a chance and bought it. What a deal. I have used toaster ovens for the last 15 years (I don't own a microwave) and this one is my favorite. It is not too big and not too small. A pizza does fit. Many of my regular baking pans fit. The confection feature makes things heat faster. The best part is that it does not get crazy hot like some reviews on other toaster ovens mentions. IT DOES GET VERY VERY HOT, but all toaster ovens do, as far as I know. But this one is not going to melt your painted cabinets - and mine are somewhat close to the oven. I am very happy and think it is a good buy. Note: I don't use it for toast.

Update: see my review on the other Oster oven. I couldn't find this one any longer so I posted a review on the one that is very simular to this one. In a nutshell, this one died after a short time and I have spent the money on a Breville from William Sonoma, which cost as much as my 3 toaster ovens that have broken over the last 10 to 12 years. I am expecting the Breville will last at least 10 years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good product, July 1, 2010

Good, efficient, and fast. I love it for reheating pizza and other foods you don't want to microwave.

Pros:
Heats up quickly
Convection feature works well and cooks food quickly
Inside light is very handy
Efficiently toasts 6 slices of bread

Suggestions to make a great product even better:
The unit seems to have a bit of a slant to it - it looks like it leans forward.
"Up" and "Down" control arrows are backwards in my opinion - the down should be on the left, and up on the right.
Default temperature is 300 degrees. Would make much more sense to be 350.
Can't use the timer feature unless the oven is on too.
9x13 pans only fit if they don't have much of a lip or handle.

We researched this product thoroughly before purchasing, and would recommend without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liked it so much, bought another one for my daughter!, January 22, 2010

I purchased this Toaster Oven twice! (Dec 09 & Aug 09) I researched different toaster ovens extensively and found this one to meet our needs. I'm happy to say my family and I don't know how we got along without it! We use it as much as our microwave and MORE than our regular oven! In fact, I was so pleased, I purchased another one as a Christmas present for my daughter and her family! They use theirs all the time & are very happy with it!
Cleans up easy, makes crispy food crisp, heats in far less time, easy to operate, and one feature I REALLY enjoy; it turns OFF when done, unlike an oven! Cannot overcook anything with this feature! I am a boring cook, but I feel creative, because of it's ease, and find myself trying out new ideas of my own with great reviews from family! Best purchase for us in 2009! (Have not tried the dehydration or convection features yet) And NO, I do not work for Oster! Oster 6057 6-Slice Extra Capacity Toaster/Convection Oven, Black

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, September 12, 2011

This review is from: Oster 6056 6-Slice Extra Capacity Toaster/Convection Oven, Silver (Kitchen)
I was skeptical about buying an Oster, I normally stick with reputable high end name brands when it comes to moves parts as they generally last twice as long, but after extensively reading the reviews I was sold to give it a try. When I first got it, I notice how big it was, more like a small microwave! Yet, it still fit where the last one was so I didn't have any issue with that. I wanted to try it out so I put some toast in it and turned on the timer. You may think the light is one of those extra features they add so you buy their product, which is probably true, but I don't think I can ever buy another toaster oven without it! The next thing I noticed & read is that the rack positioning makes this toaster good or great. For toast it goes twice as fast if the rack is positioned in the middle. My old toaster would only toast one side of the bread, this one toasts both sides evenly. My old toaster's coil turned bright red (meaning it was working), the Oster cycles it's coils on and off so they are never bright red. I bet it will help the longevity of the product. I tried the broil function to melt cheese over a steak sandwich and made sure to relocate the rack to the top position- it melted evenly, gently heated the rest of the sandwich without cooking the meat or toasting the bread, WONDERFUL! Then last night I had some slice sugar cookie dough in my fridge, so I decided to test out the convection function as I have never personally owned one before. WOW, you should just click buy right now. It baked the cookies so evenly and quickly. I don't think I will ever use my real oven again unless the item doesn't fit in the toaster oven! This is when you fully appreciate the light and the glass door. The only thing I didn't try was the warm feature, but I'm sure it's fine. This is a great convection toaster oven for a great price.

3.0 out of 5 stars They Just Can't Get It Right..., December 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This toaster oven is the third one in the last 2 years. It follows a Krups brand oven that I kept for about a year before changing for one that has a larger capacity.

Why on earth can't the manufacturers of toaster ovens manage to make one that has a functional clock?! Both the Krups and this one have clocks that are off by several hours during a 24-hour period. Soooo frustrating - it's something that's not discovered till the oven has been used for a couple of days.

I kept the Krups oven because it had features that I liked - and I had already discarded the packaging that it came in. Then - dumb me - I did the same with this oven, discarding the packaging.

I like the oven light. The "toast" function doesn't have a time countdown like the Krups did, but I guess I can adjust to that. I like the larger capacity with this oven - and I like the looks of it. It bakes nicely, true to temperature.

Would it be way too much to expect that a functioning clock be part of the package? And why on earth can one brand manage to have a "toast" countdown, while the other one leaves you having to hover over the thing watching the toast till it's done?!!

Good Grief!!
