Great toaster oven for the price,
Love this toaster oven. It doesn't take up that much room on the counter, yet the inside is fairly large. I'm amazed at how many different foods it cooks and cooks them all so well. No more microwave soggy food! We'll never cook bacon any other way again! Quicker and crispier and less shrinkage. This toaster oven is quiet, the pan that came with it is easy to clean and the removable crumb drawer on the bottom is convenient. I have no complaints with it's performance, but I really would have loved a light inside. If I should ever need to replace this unit I would certainly replace it with the same model.

so far so good,
By NYC apartment dweller (New York City) - See all my reviews I have baked calamari and scallops. I have toasted hamburger buns. And I have broiled veggie burgers. These have all come out well even though my own cooking skills are mediocre. When doing my research on sites such as this one prior to buying a toaster oven, I noticed that many models had at least one review that said that the oven broke down for x reason within the first three to six months. I decided that the best way to avoid this potential problem was to buy from a store that gives one the option to buy peace of mind via a 1-2 year product replacement plan. The 2 year plan for the Oster 6290 cost an additional $8.99 plus tax from Best Buy. As this is my first toaster oven, I decided to buy a model in the $50-60 price range. I can always buy another one with more bells and whistles that costs more down the road if I find that I enjoy the toaster oven experience. Also, by buying the product replacement plan as insurance, there was no need to spend an extra $50 to $100 on a better-reviewed Cuisinart or Krups just to make sure the oven wouldn't fall apart after the first few weeks.

Excellent toaster oven,
This review is from: Oster 6290 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black (Kitchen)
I've had this toaster oven for 5 years now and am still very happy with it. It has different settings for toasting, broiling and baking. No problems at all with burning food, etc. when used correctly. I love the pullout tray to clean up the bread crumbs!Would definitely recommend!

I just bought this toaster oven yesterday and have used it three times so far. First, it is sleek, stylish, and a good size for a toaster oven (it can hold a whole frozen pizza woo!). Second, it was easy to set up and the instruction manual was very well written. I was able to use the bake, warm, and toast functions without much problem. The crumb tray is also large and removes easily. With that said, I cannot vouch for other's reviews about it almost causing fires. I think, with any appliance, it is probably a good plan to test the features closely first before adopting a casual attitude. Anyway, I am happy with it so far and hope it lives up to the quality of the Oster brand!

Oster 6-Slice - Not So Great,
This review is from: Oster 6290 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black (Kitchen)
Nice looks, but unreliable product. The timer broke after 8 months. It also takes a long time to toast. We have been searching for a few years for a quality toaster oven for a decent price. This one was disappointing.

Somewhat dissapointed. Use is mostly for toast. Hard to judge as to where to set timer for optimum toasting. Wish now that I had kept my Black & Decker Toaster.

I've had this toaster oven for a few years now, and it's been sufficiently capacious, reliable and easy to fine-tune. I don't use it very often, but my housemates have, and it's probably saved us at least its cost in energy bills from not having to use the oven. Nice medium toaster oven.

Wish I had my old B&D toaster oven back. I've had this for about 2 months now, it's great as a small oven, plenty of room and the temperatures are consistent. What it doesn't do is make toast unless your willing to watch it the whole time. For the first few weeks I thought it was just me getting used to it. Now I'm pretty sure this is not a good toaster for those of us who put the bread or roll in and expect to walk away. The toast timer dial is inconsistent, and the increments are not tight enough. It toasts evenly but you can not walk away. I miss my old toaster oven, set for medium, press the toast button and when the bell rings the toast is done. Now I am looking at buying a just a toaster, and will have to move this somewhere else. I make toast everyday, I don't use this as an oven everyday.Good small oven, terrible toaster

BUYERS BEWARE.... 100% JUNK,
By Waltie in Ma. "Waltie in Ma." (Ma, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Oster 6290 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black (Kitchen)
I have owned this junk for several months now. I use it often when I use it, but never over a period of several days. So, I do not use it daily, if I did, I will be buying a replacement right now... a competitors of course. Issues:The heat does not regulate in it at all. The glass door is a joke, it does not close due to a catch on the bottom of the left hand side, you have to keep pushing it down so the door will close right. The blower in it is noisy. The black paint on it already is showing signs of heating up and discoloring and is looking bad. The unit is very light, poorly made overall. There is no shelf on the bottom of the unit if you wanted to make several things at once, you can't. The rack slips out of the grooves in the sides and falls down. Oster.... You should be ashamed of yourselves for putting out such garbage. Buyers beware, 199% JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!! |
