5.0 out of 5 stars excellent toast, beautiful toaster
I love this toaster! It works well, looks beautiful, and has all the features I could need and more (bagel setting, defrost, reheat, cancel). It has a pretty broad range--I've never gone higher than 4 out of 7 on the darkness scale, but I don't like really dark toast. I was a little curious/skeptical about the defrost feature, but it's been great. The crumb tray is easy...

1.0 out of 5 stars Already broken!
Bought this toaster less than two months ago and it's already broken. The control buttons (one of the reasons why we bought it) are not functioning, neither is the darkness control knob. Once it's put into the toast position, it does not shut off, you have to push up the lever manually. My son put in some Toaster Swirls only to set off the smoke alarm. This is the second...

1.0 out of 5 stars Already broken!, June 27, 2005
Bought this toaster less than two months ago and it's already broken. The control buttons (one of the reasons why we bought it) are not functioning, neither is the darkness control knob. Once it's put into the toast position, it does not shut off, you have to push up the lever manually. My son put in some Toaster Swirls only to set off the smoke alarm. This is the second time a product (a rice cooker)from this brand has broken within months of purchase. I'm just going to avoid Oster at all costs in the future.

The Amazon reviews are mixed, and for good reason. Mine arrived with a couple small scratches in the otherwise very cool candy-apple red surface. Oh well. But the really bad news was yet to come. After doing the suggested burn-in (one cycle with no bread - and yep, there really is a noxious odor from that), I set the darkness control to about 4.5 (ranges from 1 to 7). Burnt, completely burnt. So I set it down to 3.5. Burnt again. 2.5 - barely brown. 3 - burnt. And, as other reviews note, it doesn't toast evenly on both sides. One reviewer thought that was great; I think it sucks. I guess Oster is owned by Sunbeam, and who knows who owns them, but these products that are thrown together in China or elsewhere where they pay $.02/hr for labor can hardly be expected to be reliable, can they? Aint the global economy f'in' wonderful?!

I was a little curious/skeptical about the defrost feature, but it's been great. The crumb tray is easy to pull out and clean, too. My one complaint is that the cord is a little short and there's no cord storage, but otherwise I absolutely love it. I've not been much impressed by toasters in the past, but this one has me actually eating breakfast every morning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best thing since sliced bread...(sorry!), July 2, 2006
This review is from: Oster 6307 Inspire 2-Slice Toaster, Red (Kitchen)
Had to say that. This toaster does a good job, I especially like the bagel setting which toasts a bagel to a crispy perfection. And it is beautiful on my counter. The shinny red looks like a candy apple finish. Very classy and makes you smile in the morning.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last 6 months, September 8, 2005

This was chosen for my mother-in law because of the color. It still heats, but doesn"t control the toasting time. Pop-up toaster have worked well for 50+ years. Adding electronics was a bad idea.

2.0 out of 5 stars It worked well until..., February 17, 2007
I was pretty happy with this when I first bought it--toasted bread well, and the bagel setting worked well. After about 3 weeks, the blasted slice tray would no longer stay down. I'm looking for something a little sturdier.

Don't waste your money!! After about 6 months the blasted tray won't stay down!! What a bummer, because it matched my coffee maker and blender.

This beautiful red toaster has wide slots and different settings for different types of bread or bagels, etc. The light and dark settings are accurate. And this toaster has a separate button for popping out your toast if you don't wish to wait a long time. very happy with this toaster and the looks. gigi

2.0 out of 5 stars stopped working, January 20, 2008
Had the toaster for 5 months and it stopped working. The tray keeps popping back up. What happened to toasters that lasted 20 years?

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toaster, July 9, 2009

This review is from: Oster 6307 Inspire 2-Slice Toaster, Red (Kitchen)
We loved this toaster! The settings for defrost, reheat, bagel and cancel all function well as do the 7 scales of darkness. The crumb tray is easy to remove and clean.

We carry/use this toaster in our RV and find that it only has two drawbacks 1) the paint scratches easily (2) the short cord barely reaches outlets located on the underside of upper cabinets.
