4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
This was our first toaster purchase in a long time after having toaster ovens for the past several years. Overall this is a good product. Our biggest complaint is that the darkness (or lightness) of the toast is not always consistent from one toasting to the next even if the adjustment is not touched.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, but why is it so hard to find a good toaster
When I was a kid (I'm 40 now) we had a toaster that made good toast and lasted 25 years. This Oster 6335 is the 3rd new toaster we've tried. The other ones toasted one side but not the other, short circuited after about a year, or would toast fine one day and not the next. The Oster 6335 is okay, I bought it because Consumer Reports said it was the best and was a Best...

When I was a kid (I'm 40 now) we had a toaster that made good toast and lasted 25 years. This Oster 6335 is the 3rd new toaster we've tried. The other ones toasted one side but not the other, short circuited after about a year, or would toast fine one day and not the next. The Oster 6335 is okay, I bought it because Consumer Reports said it was the best and was a Best Buy. It's better than the other 3 but problems are:

The darkness adjustment is too sensitive, changing from 3 to 4 on the scale goes from light to burnt toast. One side is always darker than the other. Even on the same side of the toast some areas are toasted and some are not. The handle that pushes down the toast seems flimsy and I know it will break after a couple years. Like I said this is the best out of the 4 (3 plus this one). But I'm not raving about it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Toaster; Manual Incorrect; Warm doesn't Work, March 22, 2007

This toaster works well enough--good, uniform toast. However, some the buttons do not work as specified in the manual; for instance, the manual says push Frozen first, then toast; but the Frozen light doesn't come on until you push the Toast button--stuff like that. The Warm function keeps toasting the bread, contrary to the manual and product description.

The top of the plastic shell is MELTING! The plastic is just a cool-looking shell over a real toaster...so there is a gap where the crumbs fall down between. Not sure if that will be a problem later. Bought despite the ridiculous cost because Consumer Reports rated it highly. Not worth the $ if it's going to melt! The options are nice; I have used the "warm" setting several times when I couldn;t get to the toaster right away. The alarm is TERRIBLY LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS though!!!!!!!!

Our toaster stopped working a few weeks ago. I saw this one is Consumer Reports top rated and bought it. It looks a little futuristic. People comment on it. It is well-made, can toast a variety of things and matches the other stainless steel stuff in our kitchen. It seems to do a pretty consistent job with toasting bread too. My wife is happy with the choice I made!

4.0 out of 5 stars Toaster, May 12, 2007

The toaster has a loud tone that goes off when your toast is done and it sounds like a smoke detector going off. The toaster has a strange shape. Otherwise, it toasts the bread great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best toaster for the $$, May 17, 2008

The Oster 6335 Counterforms 2 Slice Toaster has all the features one could ever ask for on a toaster and toasts very well. It has preset settings for Toast, Bagel, Pastry, Waffle, Frozen and Warm. The slot openings are 1-1/4" by 5-1/2", slightly wider and longer than the old toasters. It has a Cancel button conveniently located apart from the other buttons. Oster adds a nice touch with all buttons backlit in blue. The outside finish (Oster calls Luminart) is made of a plastic composite resembling stainless steel with a rippled water effect in the reflection which doesn't show finger prints and the top is made of plastic, cool to the touch non-stick surface. The design is out of this world which reminds me of an oversized hour-glass; you either love it or hate it. The 6335 comes with a crumb tray located at the rear; Oster would have done better designing the tray at the front. The Toast lift handle feels a bit flimsy but has a nice feature by locking at the top to elevate small items, like English muffins. Another nice feature is the single side bagel toasting with curved self-centering guides. Toasting is not always even on both sides and the adjustable browning settings are sensitive and will take you some trials and errors to find the right personal settings. The Oster 6335 is reasonably priced and deserves a 5 star rating.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lovely while it lasted, April 6, 2008

I had no complaints about this toaster, except that one month after the warranty expired (that's when the toaster was thirteen months old), it abruptly stopped working.

Edited to add: I'm still unhappy with the toaster, but I'm now very happy with Oster; when I e-mailed them about the problem, they replaced the toaster for free!

1.0 out of 5 stars This toaster is toast!, July 26, 2007
This review is from: Oster 6335 Counterforms 2 Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
We had this toaster exactly 10 days when the front buttons failed to work. The toaster was not mistreated in anyway, we even unplugged it between uses. JUNK! Not at all what I expected from Consmer Reports Recommeded Buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buttons broke after 3 1/2 months, July 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oster 6335 Counterforms 2 Slice Toaster (Kitchen)
I purchased this toaster based on reviews I read on amazon.com.

The toaster seemed to be a good bargain for the price. Upon use, the toaster seemed to be decent quality. I never used the buttons much, except to cancel a toasting and to toast only one side (Bagel button).

A few days ago, toasting could not be cancelled with the cancel button. I was left with finding creative ways to cancel toasting; unplugging the power, or trying to bounce the lever to unlock it. Adjusting the dial to a lower setting worked, though it was not immediate.

I called Oster, and they will be replacing the toaster (Nice of them), though with a slightly less costly model since they do not have any of this model in stock. I never used all the buttons that often, so I'm not going to complain to them about receiving a replacement toaster that is a different model and is a few dolalrs cheaper.

This toaster is nice while it performs. Though after the buttons refuse to work, you're stuck with only the toast option, and you can no longer cancel the toasting the easy way.

Don't be surprised if this breaks within the warranty period.

*edited to add; this toaster was used at least once a day, sometimes two or three times.
